Bunbury Next Best Bet - Race 3 No. 5 Lord Momo

Connections have finally opted for some headgear with Lord Momo, who gets visors applied for this assignment.

He looked in need of that gear on debut at Bunbury on December 7 when runner-up to the talented Chino Bay, although it is not uncommon for horses to gain experience before a key gear change is applied.

The gelding contests this race hard fit, having completed three runs this campaign.

He backs up from last Thursday at Pinjarra when looming ominously from off the speed with a three-wide trail before peaking late, with that fifth-place finish the only time he has been out of the money in four starts.

Bred to stay, the rise in distance should suit, as should the low draw, and although he has been costly for punters, Lord Momo continues to race consistently and this is probably the weakest race he has found.

Bunbury Best Bet - Race 6 No. 2 Uxorious

The penultimate looks a race of two, with Mysterious Fortune needing plenty of respect and potentially worth saving on.

He was beaten by the handy I'm Odette at Belmont last start and put a good margin on third-placed Proportrait, who almost franked that form at Belmont on Wednesday.

Mysterious Fortune was also good late in his only attempt on soft ground.

However, Uxorious is likely the better horse going forward and worked early to find the lead when saluting at start two on May 21 in a maiden that contained some quality.

That victory followed an eye-catching debut over 1100m, a distance that proved a little sharp, and the gelding comes from an in-form Jason Miller who is striking at 26% this year, with four winners coming from his last seven starters.

JK Racing Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Bunbury Value Bet - Race 7 No. 2 De Grandhomme

The May 23 resumption at Belmont was sound, with De Grandhomme recording a fifth-of-12 finish in a race that has already produced four subsequent winners.

Despite a decent drop in grade on Thursday, he carries the same 57kg impost courtesy of the 3kg claim from Bailey Webster.

We only need to go back to January to find the four-year-old saluting in Saturday company at Ascot.

It was a consistent campaign for the son of Star Turn, which included a second-up victory in October, and he handled heavy ground via the Belmont resumption prior to that, picking up late after receiving little luck early.

His only previous attempt at Bunbury resulted in a second-up maiden triumph at start two, and a big each-way price is available for a galloper that profiles quite well.
