Asfoora (barrier 14) made it a successful Australian return when winning the R N Irwin Stakes first-up on April 12 and that Group 3 event is one the traditional lead-up races to the Robert Sangster Stakes.
The Henry Dwyer-trained mare campaigned in England last year and over Royal Ascot 2024, she became the sixth Australian winner of the King Charles III Stakes (formely King's Stand Stakes).
1200m looks the main query for Asfoora, as she hasn't won in three prior attempts over this distance.
Following a stylish Group 3 victory second-up, Commemorative (barrier 15) was luckless in the Group 1 Galaxy and she covered ground last start when runner-up in the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes.
The Godolphin galloper is often popular in the market (started under $4.50 in all 13 appearances).
Climbing Star (barrier 7) is aiming for back-to-back wins in the Robert Sangster Stakes and she caught the eye on return when placing in the R N Irwin Stakes.
The daughter of Zoustar placed in the R N Irwin Stakes prior to her Group 1 triumph last autumn.
Phillip Stokes also prepares Stretan Angel (barrier 10) who was runner-up behind Benedetta in The Goodwood last May and while her winning drought stretches back to October 2023, she's generally competitive at this level.
With two Group 1 placings followed by a fourth in a William Reid Stakes that featured Jimmysstar, her 2025 references read well for this feature.
Ciaron Maher has trained two of the last three winners of this race and he has A Little Deep (barrier 5), who has won a jump-out since a Flemington return win on March 29.
The five-year-old was well-held in second behind Aviatress (barrier 6) over this distance last spring when contesting the Group 3 Northwood Plume Stakes at Caulfield.
Aviatress is one of the leading local hopes and she'll be looking to atone after a sixth-of-ten finish as favourite in the R N Irwin Stakes.
She saluted prior to that when resuming in the Listed Matrice Stakes over this track/trip.
Ciaron Maher has also accepted with Estriella (barrier 2), who finished fifth-of-fourteen as favourite in last year's Robert Sangster Stakes.

Robert Sangster Stakes Winners
Being a Group 1 1200m sprint restricted to filllies and mares, the Robert Sangster Stakes is very unique to the Australian racing calendar, with this feature running alongside the Australasian Oaks.
A race that dates back to 1983, this sprint was given Group 1 status in 2005 and a name change from the Swettenham Stud Stakes to the Robert Sangster Stakes due to the prolific businessman, owner and breeder passing away in 2004 (Sangster was the principal of Swettenham Stud).
Black Caviar and Alinghi are two champions that have taken out the feature and have made this a target for some of the elite sprinting mares.
Snapdancer (2022), Ruthless Dame (2023) and Climbing Star (2024) have won the last three editions of the Robert Sangster Stakes.
