On Saturday, May 30, 2026, the Brisbane Winter Carnival focus turns to Eagle Farm, where dual Group 1 features headline the program through the Queensland Derby and Kingsford-Smith Cup.

Jimmysstar heads the early Kingsford-Smith Cup market with Neds, with the Ciaron Maher-trained galloper currently rated a $3.40 favourite for the 1300m contest.

A winner of three Group 1 races in 2025, including two at weight-for-age level, the gelding is yet to produce his best form this campaign; however, his three runs since a disappointing return in the William Reid Stakes have all carried merit.

That includes a third in the All Aged Stakes, where he was disadvantaged by the track pattern, while his fourth-place finish in the Doomben 10,000 was also respectable despite starting a well-supported favourite.

Fangirl ($7) was also unsuited by the track pattern when resuming in the All Aged Stakes, although the effort still had plenty of merit, and the classy mare has since trialled at Rosehill ahead of her Queensland campaign.

The seven-year-old has claimed nine stakes victories during her career, including four at Group 1 level, and connections will be hoping for good ground throughout winter.

King Of Roseau ($8) completed a hat-trick at Gosford when successful in the Listed Takeover Target Stakes, arriving there fresh after a Group 3 victory over the same distance in February.

His preparation has been carefully spaced throughout the year following the gelding’s Magic Millions triumph back in January.

Private Eye ($8) was scratched from the Doomben 10,000 due to the heavy conditions, while Splash Back ($9) enters calculations after her Group 2 Victory Stakes success on May 2, having produced that performance off a luckless first-up run at Randwick.
