2026 Coolmore Classic Best Bet - Verona Rose

The Melbourne trip at the end of spring appears to have really brought on Verona Rose, and an interstate journey can often do that with a lightly raced type.

She took out the Inglis Bracelet on Oaks Day, which was not a vintage affair, but there were some strong prior form lines.

The mare had already shown above-average ability through her first three starts, including a Kembla Grange Classic victory.

The four-year-old then built off an eye-catching return in the Triscay Stakes when taking out the Group 2 Guy Walter Stakes on February 28.

The extra 100m should suit third-up and, while this field carries more depth, she still looks a mare with improvement to come, with Craig Williams staying aboard and boasting a two-from-three record on Verona Rose.

2026 Coolmore Classic Next Best Bet - Arctic Glamour

Arctic Glamour is never the easiest mare to catch but is capable of a big finish, which we saw on return in the Guy Walter Stakes when producing the fastest closing sectionals of that Group 2.

She was slow away and failed to muster early but balanced up strongly late to hit the line.

Also, the early stages of a preparation have always been when she has fired, with most of her best runs coming either first or second-up.

That was further evident last campaign when she followed a return triumph here with a Group 3 second behind Yorkshire.

Yorkshire subsequently franked that form by winning a strong edition of The Ingham and also running well in the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes on return.

2026 Coolmore Classic Value Bet - Cilacap

The Victorian visitor quickly handled the rise to stakes company in her second campaign and appears to have had this 1500m Group 1 as the target this preparation.

Cilacap was freshened after finishing seventh of nine in the Christmas Stakes at Sandown, a run that was much better than it reads.

She recorded the fastest last 200m of that December 26 event.

That performance followed a good trial ahead of her Sydney debut in the Millie Fox Stakes, which was fair.

Now much better suited under handicap conditions and over a more suitable journey, Cilacap could be ready to strike with just 51kg.
