Ole Dancer (barrier 11) has begun her campaign well, finishing runner-up behind the in-form Sass Appeal before placing third in the Group 1 Surround Stakes on February 28, and the filly appears well placed stepping up to 1500m third-up this preparation.

The only time she finished outside the placings came when an unlucky fifth at Listed level in September, during a campaign that culminated in victory in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas at Caulfield.

Lazzura (barrier 8) is prepared by Chris Waller, with the champion trainer chasing a fourth consecutive victory in the feature, while James McDonald has been aboard for the past two wins.

Fitness only just gave out late when the mare resumed in the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes on February 21, where she conceded 3kg to the winner, and the four-year-old has since completed a tick-over trial on March 5.

Verona Rose (barrier 4) caught the eye first-up over 1200m before capitalising second-up with a Group 2 victory in the Guy Walter Stakes on February 28.

An extra 100m should hold no concerns for the Gary Portelli-trained mare, considering her previous two victories were both recorded over a mile.

Savvy Hallie (barrier 13) also brings strong recent form, finishing a close runner-up to Tempted in the Group 1 Surround Stakes after winning the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes.

Cinsault (barrier 5) arrives in outstanding touch with four wins from five starts this campaign, including completing a hat-trick last time out with a Group 2 victory in the Millie Fox Stakes when defeating Lazzura.

Group 1 winner Manaal (barrier 2) and Group 2 winner Arctic Glamour (barrier 1) both enter the Coolmore Classic off placings in the Guy Walter Stakes behind Verona Rose.

Coolmore Classic Winners

First run as the Fillies & Mares Classic in 1973, the race was one of the earliest feature events in Sydney restricted to fillies and mares, gaining Group 1 status in 1986 before being renamed the Coolmore Classic in 1996.

Run under handicap conditions over 1500m at Rosehill, the winner of the Coolmore Classic earns ballot exemption for both the 2026 Doncaster Mile and the 2026 Queen Of The Turf Stakes, which are staged later in the Sydney Autumn Carnival at Randwick.

Espiona (2023), Zougotcha (2024) and Lady Shenandoah (2025) have claimed the past three editions of the Coolmore Classic.
