Mr Brightside is set to defend his Champions Mile crown, entering the race in strong form after a successful run in the Makybe Diva Stakes and a second-place finish in the King Charles III Stakes. The horse is favored alongside Pride Of Jenni with both holding odds of $4.50 in the 2025 Champions Mile market. The field includes other strong contenders such as Ceolwulf, priced at $5.00 after a victory in the King Charles III Stakes, and Treasurethe Moment, better suited to the 1600m distance, at $6.00.

The eight-year-old is effective on all surfaces, boasting strong records on good, soft, and heavy ground, which could prove crucial given the uncertainty in forecasts for the remainder of the Melbourne Cup Carnival, with rain possible across all days.

In the 2025 Champions Mile market with Ladbrokes, Mr Brightside and Pride Of Jenni are $4.50 equal favourites.

Exciting front-runner Pride Of Jenni has won two of three spring appearances, including a dominant all-the-way triumph in the Group 1 Empire Rose Stakes on Victoria Derby Day.

She completed the Empire Rose–Champions Mile double in 2023, and the Ciaron Maher-trained mare is chasing a fifth Group 1 victory here.

Ceolwulf ($5) bounced back to form with a last-start win in the King Charles III Stakes, where he accounted for both Mr Brightside and Pride Of Jenni.

The son of Tavistock will make his Melbourne debut in the Champions Mile, having had all 24 starts to date in Sydney.

Treasurethe Moment ($6) looks better suited dropping back to 1600m after an honest third in the Cox Plate.

She hasn’t saluted since a brilliant first-up win in the Memsie Stakes, but that campaign was briefly interrupted by a minor setback after that return.

Alligator Blood (2022), Pride Of Jenni (2023) and Mr Brightside (2024) have won the last three editions of the Champions Mile.
