The Hungarian has an outstanding record against the elite at Masters 1000 level, winning five of his seven such matches, while he also made the quarter-finals in his only previous appearance in Shanghai in 2023, beating Casper Ruud and Alex de Minaur along the way. After pushing Jannik Sinner last week in Beijing, I think Marozsan can make life very difficult for Fritz on these fast Shanghai courts.

The Hungarian's best result on tour this season was a semi-final finish at the ATP 500 tournament in Munich.

Marozsan was on a three-match losing run before arriving in Beijing last week, but he made a nice run to the quarter-finals and served for the second set before going down 6-1 7-5 to Sinner. Marozsan got his Shanghai campaign up and running earlier in the week with a three-set victory over veteran Stan Wawrinka.
