Novak Djokovic vs Jaume Munar Tips, Prediction & Live Stream - Djokovic to advance into 11th Shanghai quarter-final
Novak Djokovic faces Jaume Munar in the Shanghai Masters R16, marking their first encounter since 2018. Djokovic, aiming for a fifth title, benefits from a favourable draw after key competitors exited. Munar enters with career-best form, but his lack of top 10 wins hinders his prospects against Djokovic's consistent performance and resilience in tough conditions. The article predicts Djokovic will win comfortably, advising he should cover a -4.5 games line. Viewers can catch the action via Unibet's live stream, subject to geo-restrictions and wagering requirements.

Novak Djokovic vs Jaume Munar Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Djokovic will almost certainly not get a better opportunity to win another Masters 1000 title and his first since Paris 2023. Carlos Alcaraz withdrew before the tournament, while Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev have also crashed out before the R16. Holger Rune is the highest-possible seed Djokovic can face before the final, while No. 7 Alex de Minaur is the highest-ranked player remaining in the top half of the draw.
It won't be easy though - the conditions in Shanghai over the last few days have been brutal, with temperatures of 35 degrees and 80 per cent humidity. However, the 38-year-old Djokovic has handled them better than many of his younger counterparts and I think he should be strong enough to hold off Munar, who is the scrappiest of competitors but ultimately lacks weapons to trouble the very best (as illustrated through a 3-19 career record vs top 10 players). I'm backing Djokovic to cover a -4.5 games line in victory.
Head To Head
Djokovic leads 1-0, but this will be their first meeting since 2018, when the Serbian came through their second round French Open clash in straight sets.
Novak Djokovic Form
Djokovic has put together a 33-10 record on the season, playing a limited schedule as he targets the majors and a select few Masters 1000 events.
It's got to be frustrating for Djokovic - he's been the clear third best player in the world this year, only falling short at the slams against Sinner and Alcaraz, while his body failed him and forced retirement in the Australian Open semi-finals against Zverev.
Nevertheless, it's been a solid year for Djokovic - he finally captured that elusive 100th career title in Geneva and he's still operating at a very high level.
After a semi-final exit to Alcaraz at the US Open, Djokovic has returned to action in Shanghai, where he is a record four-time champion and has never lost before the quarter-finals.
Djokovic got his campaign started with a straight sets victory over fellow veteran Marin Cilic before surviving an inspired Yannik Hanfmann, coming back from a set down to outlast the German by a 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 score.
Jaume Munar Form
It's been a career-best season for Munar - he's recorded a 28-22 record and hit a career-high ranking of No. 37 (currently No. 41).
The difference has been Munar's hardcourt form. Before this season, Munar had only won 21 main draw matches at tour-level events on hardcourt throughout his entire career. Now, the Spaniard has won 17 matches on hardcourt in 2025 alone.
Munar made his first ever Grand Slam R16 at the US Open last month and now he's reached the same stage of a hardcourt Masters 1000 event for the first time in Shanghai.
The 28-year-old defeated Marton Fucsovics in three sets in the opening round before taking out Flavio Cobolli in the second. Munar then needed three sets again to overcome Yoshihito Nishioka to advance into the R16.

Verdict
Munar is in career-best form, but I just don't think he has the weapons to really trouble the Djokovic defences in this matchup.
Djokovic knows this is a massive opportunity to win another Masters title - I think he steps it up and covers a -4.5 games line here.
