Second seed Luciano Darderi faces Portuguese hopeful Jaime Faria in a highly anticipated ATP Estoril quarter-final. Darderi, enjoying a career-best clay season, is favored due to greater experience, despite Faria’s impressive home performances. Predictors expect a long match, potentially with over 22.5 games and a tiebreak, but ultimately Darderi’s superior record on clay and in high-pressure moments should help him prevail in a three-set thriller. Tennis fans can catch the action live, with geo and account restrictions applying.

Luciano Darderi vs Jaime Faria ATP Estoril Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Over 22.5 games and at least one tiebreak is backed in what could be one of the best matches of the tournament as second seed Luciano Darderi and Portuguese rising star Jaime Faria square off in the quarter-finals on Friday.

A cracking contest beckons here. Darderi is having a superb season, highlighted by a title in Santiago and semi-final run at the Rome Masters, while Faria has a positive 9-6 record at tour-level and will be looking to impress in front of his home fans in Estoril.

Darderi is coming off a run to the final in Bastad last week and was in menacing form against Pedro Martinez in his Estoril opener, dropping just one game - despite serving at just 42 per cent of first serves.

Faria meanwhile is yet to drop a set in convincing victories against Botic Van De Zandschulp and Gonzalo Bueno, but faces a big step up in class against the second seed in this one.

The Portuguese player is 0-5 against top 30 players and 0-3 in ATP quarter-finals, showcasing he perhaps isn't quite ready for a scalp of this magnitude. He has however been very competitive in those matches, so I think we could be in for a tiebreak and a big three-set battle.

But Darderi is the more accomplished player at this stage of their careers and has been a beast on clay all season - the Italian is tipped to edge this in three.
  • Darderi has a 9-7 record in quarter-final matches
  • Darderi has won four of his last five matches
  • Darderi has seen 1+ tiebreak in eight of his last 13 matches
  • Faria has a 0-5 record vs top 30 players
  • Faria has seen 1+ tiebreak in four of those five matches
  • Faria has seen 1+ tiebreak in five of his last seven matches

Darderi vs Faria Head To Head

Faria leads 1-0, winning in straight sets in Santiago last year.

Luciano Darderi Form Analysis

  • 2026 ATP Record: 26-16
  • ATP Estoril Record: 1-0
  • Current Ranking: No. 21
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 16 (May 2026)

Darderi has been impressive for most of the season, breaking into the world's top 20 for the first time and establishing himself as one of the most dangerous clay courters on tour.

The Italian's best results this season include claiming a fifth ATP title in Santiago, while he also enjoyed a magical run at home to make the Rome Masters semi-finals, defeating Tommy Paul, Rafael Jodar and Alexander Zverev along the way.

Darderi also made the final of Bastad last week, along with the semi-finals of Marrakech - but a second round exit at Roland Garros would have stung given how strong his clay results have been in 2026.

The 24-year-old remains on course for a rematch with Andrey Rublev in the Estoril final after the Russian got the better of him in Bastad. Darderi was in a ruthless moos in his opening match after a first round bye, completely obliterating Pedro Martinez 6-0 6-1.

Jaime Faria Form Analysis

  • 2026 ATP Record: 9-6
  • ATP Estoril Record: 2-1
  • Current Ranking: No. 88
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 87 (2025)

Faria has continued his upward trajectory in 2026 and will make his top 80 debut after this tournament.

An injury-disrupted start to the year briefly stalled his progress, but the Portuguese rising star quickly rediscovered his best tennis with runner-up finishes at the São Paulo and Mauthausen Challenger events before carrying that form onto the ATP Tour.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough performance at Roland Garros, successfully navigating qualifying before reaching the third round. During that impressive run, Faria claimed notable victories over Grigor Dimitrov, Denis Shapovalov and Jan-Lennard Struff, eventually bowing out in a gripping five-set contest against Frances Tiafoe.

Faria also impressed on the grass, qualifying for Wimbledon and backing it up with a first-round win before his campaign came to an end in four sets against eventual Eastbourne champion Zizou Bergs.

After going down to Casper Ruud in the second round of Gstaad last week, Faria extended his record in first round matches to 12-0 in Estoril when he beat Botic Van De Zandschulp 6-3 6-4 before backing it up with a 6-2 6-4 win over Gonzalo Bueno to advance into a fourth ATP quarter-final.
