Ipswich hosts an eight-race provincial meeting on Friday, with three maidens and five handicaps featuring across the program, while big fields are set to contest most events.

Listen Jani has performed well in all three starts to date, including two metro appearances this preparation.

The filly was narrowly beaten into second over 1110m at Doomben when resuming in a small-field maiden before backing that up over this course and distance.

The three-year-old was beaten just over two lengths into fourth on that occasion after tracking the pace, and she remains open to further improvement.

Barrier nine shouldn't pose too many issues with the drop back to provincial level in her favour, while both starts this preparation have come on Soft surfaces and a track upgrade would be no concern after she performed with credit on Good ground on debut.

Connections skipped a Doomben assignment on Wednesday in favour of this race, and that decision can pay dividends.

Ipswich Value Bet - Race 4 No. 10 Too Darn Quick

Kevin Kemp's filly had just one trial before making her race debut at this venue earlier this month.

That hit-out resulted in a second-place finish on a wet track at Toowoomba just over a month ago.

The youngster then debuted with a third-place finish here, beaten just under two lengths on her first race start.

Racing over 800m, she finished best of those settling off the speed and shaped like a filly who would appreciate stepping up in distance, while a Soft 5 surface appeared to suit on debut and she should have no issues with the slightly softer conditions forecast.

Taylor Marshall's mount is expected to improve from that first-up experience, and from a good barrier she rates as value to break her maiden at the second attempt.

The New Zealand-bred finished in the top three at each of her first six career starts.

Two of those placings came this preparation, including a third at Warwick Farm on her penultimate outing.

The switch to Queensland proved successful when she scored comfortably at Eagle Farm earlier this month.

Competing on a Soft track, the filly came home more than two-and-a-half lengths clear of her nearest rival, with the move to front-running tactics appearing to suit over 1200m as she shaped like the rise in distance would be no issue.

Michael Freedman's representative has drawn ideally in barrier one and looks capable of conceding weight to her rivals despite stepping up against winners for the first time.

Ipswich Roughie - Race 7 No. 3 Twilight Steps

Twilight Steps has won twice at double-figure odds this season, including at Kilcoy on his penultimate start.

Starting at $11, the gelding scored by just under half a length on a wet surface over 1500m.

Those conditions appeared to suit, and he followed that effort with a midfield finish at the Sunshine Coast where he kept finding the line to be beaten just over six lengths into sixth.

The rise in distance is expected to suit, with the five-year-old likely to be ridden patiently once again by regular rider Kayla Johnston, who takes another 3kg off his back from a favourable barrier.

John Johnston's representative is set to make his first appearance at this circuit and may prove up to delivering a victory at big odds.
