Warrnambool Best Bet - Race 4 No. 10 Adira River

A dominant Heavy-track victory at Hamilton highlighted Adira River's ability to handle testing conditions.

Racing over 1600m, the filly led throughout to justify $1.35 favouritism in an eight-runner event before stepping up to 2025m and finishing third at Cranbourne.

That form has worked out well, with the runner-up going on to win twice in metropolitan company at Sandown.

Ciaron Maher's representative can be forgiven her heavy defeat at Flemington, where the 2500m appeared beyond her, and the drop back in trip looks ideal.

Country grade is another positive, and despite barrier nine, the three-year-old is taken to provide Declan Bates with a winner.

Warrnambool Roughie - Race 6 No. 5 Always Hapi

Recent form doesn't tell the full story for Always Hapi, who has started at big odds in each of his five runs this year.

The gelding has finished ninth in his past two starts at Geelong, the latest coming at this grade after enduring little luck in running.

Shuffled back before racing five wide without cover approaching the home turn, the seven-year-old had excuses for that performance.

A return to Warrnambool is significant, with his only previous start at the venue resulting in victory over 1400m in a Benchmark 64 last August.

Will Gordon's booking catches the eye, and from a low draw the Vincent Malady-trained galloper may prove capable of causing an upset.

Warrnambool Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 5 Bazzar

Two encouraging runs since a spell suggest Bazzar is nearing another victory.

The gelding resumed with a third at Ballarat before following up with a solid sixth at Bendigo earlier this month.

Slow away from a wide barrier over 1000m, the three-year-old made up good late ground to finish less than one-and-a-half lengths from the winner.

The form has already been franked, with both the third and 10th horses winning at their next starts, while the drop back to Benchmark 62 company is another positive.

Heavy ground holds no fears, and with John Allen retaining the ride for Tom Dabernig, Bazzar looks well placed to record his second win in seven starts.

Cassign BM70 Handicap Tips (Race 8)

Warrnambool Value Bet - Race 8 No. 9 Eyes To Me

Testing conditions should again suit Eyes To Me, who has placed in half of his six starts on Heavy ground.

Two of those placings have come this preparation, including a strong finishing effort at Mount Gambier last start.

Competing on a Heavy 10 surface over 2400m, the gelding was beaten just under one-and-a-half lengths and has already proven he stays further.

His previous run at this venue is best overlooked, with front-running tactics appearing to work against him on that occasion.

Tom Madden retains the ride, and with Warrnambool the scene of his only previous victory, the five-year-old appeals as a value chance rising in trip.
