Murray Bridge Tips July 22

Monteith Meats Maiden Plate Tips (Race 2)

Murray Bridge Value Bet - Race 2 No. 4 Bay Road Boy

A pair of encouraging trial performances preceded Bay Road Boy's debut earlier this month.

Racing over this course and distance, the gelding finished fifth in a maiden after being shuffled back at a crucial stage.

The three-year-old kept finding the line well, with the first two home finishing well clear of the remainder despite the margin back to the pick exceeding 10 lengths.

Competing on a Soft 6 surface appeared to be no issue on debut, and with rain forecast a potential track downgrade is unlikely to pose a problem.

Jason Holder retains the ride and, while Paganini sets the benchmark on exposed form, Bay Road Boy hails from a strong stable and rates value despite a wide barrier.

Murray Bridge Best Bet - Race 3 No. 3 Magic Island

Several strong efforts in Queensland last preparation suggested Magic Island had a race like this within reach.

The mare was purchased for $10,000 after leaving the Robert Heathcote stable and, following a runner-up trial here, made a pleasing debut for her new connections at Morphettville.

Racing on a Soft 7 surface, the five-year-old settled prominently before finishing third, beaten just a length against male rivals.

That performance should have brought her on nicely, while racing on wet ground for only the second time suggests underfoot conditions won't be an issue.

Caitlyn Munro's valuable 2kg claim is another positive, and the Richard & Chantelle Jolly-trained mare looks capable of registering her second career victory.

Murray Bridge Next Best Bet - Race 6 No. 1 Bel Ragazzo

Two runs this preparation have provided Bel Ragazzo with a solid platform for this assignment.

The gelding resumed with a fourth at Balaklava before breaking through for his maiden victory at this circuit when ridden closer to the speed.

Competing on a Heavy 8 surface, the son of Pierata prevailed by just under half a length with headgear applied for the first time.

He had to hold off a fast-finishing rival over 1200m that day, and the slight drop in distance is not expected to pose a problem.

Barrier four is another positive, with Connor Murtagh retaining the ride, and the gelding is taken to complete the double for a stable that enjoys success at this venue.

Fore Design + Flex Planning Benchmark 56 Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Murray Bridge Roughie - Race 7 No. 10 Vivacious Award

A return from more than a year on the sidelines saw Vivacious Award resume at this track earlier this month.

The eight-year-old finished ninth in a Benchmark 56 contest after showing up well for much of the race over an unsuitable 1400m.

The daughter of Shamus Award handled the wet ground well on that occasion and, with winning form on both Soft and Heavy tracks, a downgrade would hold no fears.

The rise in distance looks a positive, while her previous placings over this trip suggest she can be more competitive.

Brooke King's mount is expected to have improved significantly for the run, and with barrier four another positive she may prove capable of causing an upset.
