Pinjarra Best Bet - Race 2 No. 4 Dirty Habits
After what was effectively a barrier trial from a wide draw first-up, when letting down late over 1100m for second behind subsequent Belmont winner Bookends, Dirty Habits did let punters down as an odds-on favourite when stepping to 1300m on July 9.
The result may have disappointed, but the performance was still full of merit after he hit a flat spot in a slowly run race before producing the fastest last 400m and last 200m of the meeting.
The rise in distance looks a major positive for the three-year-old, and his breeding suggests there is plenty more to come over further.
He's a half-brother to useful middle-distance and staying performer Filthy Habits, who was stakes placed three times last campaign over 2200m+, while another half-brother, Vevinsky, is a four-time winner at 1800m+.
Dirty Habits is well found again in betting, but that's no surprise given the promise he's shown in three starts, while the booking of William Pike only adds to his appeal.

Pinjarra Value Bet - Race 6 No. 12 Cosmic Eclipse
Now three runs into her campaign following a lengthy absence, Cosmic Eclipse is building a solid fitness base, with the daughter of Deep Field competitive in two of her three starts since joining the Stephanie Bakranich stable.
She resumed with a solid sixth-of-12 over 1200m at Belmont on June 6 before failing second-up on June 16 after racing on speed in a contest that suited the swoopers.
Her July 2 effort was more encouraging, finishing strongly over 1300m in a performance that suggested the rise to 1613m is well worth a try fourth-up on Wednesday.
The daughter of Deep Field also carries 1.5kg less despite a senior rider taking over, which only strengthens her claims.
While she didn't reach any great heights for the Williams stable, Cosmic Eclipse was mostly competitive early in her career and has always shaped as though this distance would suit.

Pinjarra Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 4 Monte Tremezzo
A stylish debut winner at Ascot in February 2025, Monte Tremezzo confirmed her 1400m credentials with a Pinjarra victory in February before tackling Listed company ahead of a spell.
She returned with a very competitive runner-up finish in a Saturday 62+ at Belmont on June 13 behind progressive sprinter Bassett Hound.
While she didn't relish the Heavy 8 surface second-up on June 27, the three-year-old was far from disgraced before dropping back in trip on July 11 while remaining in Saturday metropolitan company.
That race was taken out by the in-form Common Touch, who completed a hat-trick after holding off Deep Lyric, a galloper who should've won a Saturday event prior to that on debut.
This is good placement at provincial Class 5 level, where Monte Tremezzo gets the services of Lucy Fiore, who is striking at 23% for the Daniel Morton stable this season with an ROI of better than 51%.
