Lorenzo Musetti vs Felix Auger-Aliassime Tips, Prediction & Live Stream - Felix set to ride resurgent form into last eight
Lorenzo Musetti and Felix Auger-Aliassime, both in strong form, are set to battle for a quarter-final spot in the Shanghai Masters. While Musetti leads their head-to-head 4-3, recent physical setbacks could hinder his performance. Auger-Aliassime has been impressive, with a 10-2 run since August, only facing defeats against top-tier player Jannik Sinner. This clash is not just about a quarter-final spot but also crucial ATP points for the season-ending championships. The predictions favor Auger-Aliassime, given Musetti's fatigue concerns.

Both players are in great form heading into this contest. Musetti has reached at least the quarter-finals of his last three hardcourt tournaments, while Auger-Aliassime is 10-2 since the start of August - with both defeats coming against Jannik Sinner. Both players are also chasing valuable points in order to boost their ATP Finals qualification chances in Turin for the season-ending championships, so a lot is on the line in this Shanghai R16 showdown.
I'm giving the edge to Auger-Aliassime here. Musetti was forced to retire with fatigue last week in Beijing - it's already been a hectic Asian swing for the Italian, who was in tears after losing the Chengdu final last month. Auger-Aliassime has an impressive 10-3 record in Masters 1000 R16 matches and it's taken Sinner to beat him over the last couple of months - backing the Canadian to edge this one.
Head To Head
Musetti leads 4-3, with the pair splitting the last four meetings at two wins apiece. The Italian was a 4-6 6-2 6-3 winner in the Miami third round in the most-recent clash earlier this year.
Lorenzo Musetti Form
Musetti has compiled a 37-15 record on the season heading into this encounter and has been the second-most prolific player at Masters 1000 level in 2025.
Indeed, only Carlos Alcaraz has won more Masters 1000 matches than Musetti this year, with the Italian's 19 victories including a runner-up finish in Monte Carlo, along with semi-finals in Madrid and Rome.
That was part of a brilliant clay swing for Musetti, who also made the semi-finals of the French Open.
Unfortunately a leg injury stopped his momentum, but Musetti has recovered and after a US Open quarter-final run, he's made the final of Chengdu before being forced to retire in the Beijing quarter-finals last week.
There's certainly question marks surrounding Musetti's fitness, but he hasn't been stretched so far in Shanghai, coming through Francisco Comesana and countryman Luciano Darderi in straight sets.
Felix Auger-Aliassime Form
Auger-Aliassime heads into this clash with a 36-19 record on the season, winning two ATP titles and climbing back inside the world's top 15 at a current ranking of No. 13.
It's been a great overall season for Auger-Aliassime, who has gone 4-4 against top 10 players as he looks to cement his spot back amongst the game's elite.
The Canadian started the season on fire, winning titles in Adelaide and Montpellier, along with finishing runner-up in Dubai.
Auger-Aliassime struggled for the next couple of months, but he's found his form again, making the quarter-finals of Cincinnati before a superb run to the US Open semi-finals, where he beat the likes of Alexander Zverev and Alex de Minaur.
The 25-year-old continues to impress in Shanghai, beating Alejandro Tabilo and Jesper de Jong in straight sets to make it 10 wins from his last 12 matches.

Verdict
Both players are in good form, but Auger-Aliassime is operating at a slightly higher level in my eyes - plus, there's question marks of Musetti's fitness levels, especially in these tough Shanghai conditions.
Backing Felix to get the job done and make a third straight quarter-final.
