It's been another great season for De Minaur, with the Aussie cementing his top 10 status and picking up his 10th career title. Now, de Minaur's attention turns to qualifying for the season-ending ATP Finals for the second straight year - and he's positioned himself strongly for the final stretch of the year. De Minaur is currently in seventh spot in the Live ATP Race, while it's likely that Novak Djokovic will also withdraw from the event, so some solid results here in Vienna and at the upcoming Paris Masters should be enough for him to secure his spot.
It's a nice opening draw for de Minaur, who does come into this event under a bit of a question mark after pulling out of the UTS event last week in Hong Kong due to a hip issue. Rodionov has a huge serve and is capable of some spectacular tennis, but he just doesn't have the consistency - as illustrated by a career-high ranking of No. 87. Given the circumstances, I can see Rodionov playing well enough to push this Over 18.5 total games, but if fit, can't see Demon losing this one.
Head To Head
Rodionov leads 1-0, beating de Minaur 3-6 6-3 7-6 in the 2021 Stuttgart quarter-finals on grass.
Alex de Minaur Form
De Minaur heads into this contest with a stellar 50-19 record on the season, maintaining his ranking inside the top 10 at a current mark of No. 7.
The Aussie has put together another consistent and solid year, highlighted by winning his 10th career title in Washington, while he also made Grand Slam quarter-finals at the Australian Open and US Open, along with a semi-final run at the Monte Carlo Masters.
De Minaur, currently No. 7 in the race, has played well indoors this season, winning eight of his 10 matches - including making the Rotterdam final at the start of the year.
The 26-year-old is coming off a quarter-final run at the Shanghai Masters, going down to Daniil Medvedev. De Minaur made his Vienna debut last year, beating Jan-Lennard Struff, Flavio Cobolli, and Jakub Mensik to reach the semi-finals.
Jurij Rodionov Form
Rodionov has played predominantly on the Challenger Tour in 2025 and has seen his ranking drop from a career-high of No. 87 last year to a current mark of No. 155.
The Austrian failed to qualify at all four Grand Slams and didn't feature in any Masters 1000 draws, so he's struggled to make an impact throughout the year.
Rodionov has a 10-12 record in the first round of tour-level matches, but has struggled in Vienna, winning just one match in six main draw appearances.
The 26-year-old is 1-4 against top 20 players throughout his career, but that lone win did come in Vienna back in 2020 against Denis Shapovalov.

Verdict
De Minaur is under a bit of an injury cloud and Rodionov is capable of some big tennis in patches.
I'll back De Minaur to subdue his powerful opponent and win with Over 18.5 total games.
