Sandown Tips January 21

Big Event Picnic Tables Plate Tips (Race 3)

Sandown Best Bet - Race 3 No. 9 Mystery ‘N’ Drama

The daughter of Lucky Vega recorded a couple of fair efforts at Flemington last preparation, including a debut seventh over 1100m there in June.

The filly has shown improvement this time around, recording top-three finishes in each of her three starts this campaign, including on a wet track at Geelong first-up.

She encountered a Heavy 8 surface when beaten half a length on that occasion, having been held up for a run near the 400m mark.

Racing over 1135m that day, the extra distance and quicker going posed no issue in two subsequent runs, including over 1247m back at Geelong next time.

Trained by Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman, Mystery ‘N’ Drama was beaten just over half a length into third there before stepping up to 1400m at Sandown last time, and now racing over 1500m for the first time she looks capable of breaking her maiden.

Sandown Value Bet - Race 6 No. 3 Tennessee Song

There is plenty to like about the daughter of American Pharoah, who remains unbeaten from two career starts.

After failing to make an appearance for previous trainer Andrew Bobbin, the filly trialled well ahead of her debut at Werribee last month.

Racing on the pace over 1100m on a Soft 5 surface, she came home just under half a length clear of her nearest rival.

The form from that event has worked out well, with the fourth, fifth, and eleventh placegetters all going on to win subsequently.

Tennessee Song then won a Benchmark 62 over 1200m at the start of the month, and with Linda Meech again aboard, the Tom Dabernig-trained filly looks value to maintain her unbeaten record.
