Randwick-Kensington hosts a seven-race midweek program, with a mix of benchmark handicaps and developing runners providing several betting opportunities across the card.

Punters can also access the Group 1 Futures Markets separately as a reference tool for upcoming major races, while focusing on today’s Randwick-Kensington selections.

Randwick-Kensington Tips January 21

TAB Handicap Tips (Race 4)

Randwick-Kensington Roughie - Race 4 No. 7 Tartana

She was a metro BM72 winner early last year, scoring second-up, and while perhaps a touch outclassed in two Provincial Qualifiers after that, Tartana wasn’t disgraced in those attempts.

Via a winter return, the mare then placed in this grade on a Heavy 8 surface.

There were excuses for the only major failure in that last campaign, having covered ground in a tough Midway run before a spell.

She was strong late first-up on January 5, when just missing Who But Roo at Moruya.

That winner was a fitter galloper dropping grade and has since placed at Canterbury last Friday, which gives the form further depth.

All Too Hard Yearlings Handicap Tips (Race 5)

Randwick-Kensington Best Bet - Race 5 No. 3 Big Red Tequila

There’s still upside with this Joe Pride-trained mare, who is only third-up in her second campaign.

She raced on rain-affected ground throughout her first preparation, which included a Canterbury breakthrough.

Big Red Tequila resumed with a summer Class 1 win that has already produced two subsequent winners.

It was a steep rise in grade second-up to a Saturday BM72 and she handled it, running the fastest last 800m, 600m and 400m of the December 27 card.

That has proven a solid form race, with the first, second and fourth all performing well at the Magic Millions, while the fifth was a metro BM78 winner at Wyong on January 10.

Kia Ora Bloodlines To Headlines Handicap Tips (Race 6)

Randwick-Kensington Value Bet - Race 6 No. 2 Huon

This honest seven-year-old has been competitive across his last five appearances, which have all come in BM78 company.

This looks good placement dropping back to a midweek BM72, where he’s in with a similar impost after the 3kg claim from apprentice Siena Grima.

Along with finding an easier assignment, the conditions are a major plus, as Huon has three wins and three placings from six tries on heavy ground.

He also hasn’t finished out of the money in four attempts at Randwick-Kensington.

That includes a Heavy 8 triumph in this grade with the same weight when resuming in August.

Asahi Super Dry Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Randwick-Kensington Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 10 Outta Line

She’s well bred, with Outta Line a half-sister to Coastwatch, a three-time stakes winner, and Mighty Boss, the 2017 Caulfield Guineas winner, while Group 1 winner La Volta is also from the same family.

Outta Line was spelled after a debut win on a Soft 7 last winter.

She kicked her summer off in style with a 2.5-length Kembla Grange victory.

While losing as a well-backed favourite at start three, the four-year-old was nearly a month between runs for that January 7 performance, and the 1600m effort suggested 1800m on Wednesday should suit.

It’s not a strong race and Outta Line can bounce back here.
