Marble Handicap Tips (Race 3)
Sha Tin Roughie - Race 3 No. 12 King Dance
The Francis Lui stable has been in good touch of late, recording a winning double at Happy Valley last Wednesday before landing a treble at Sha Tin on Sunday.
Lui prepares King Dance, who failed to fire in three runs during his first campaign.
The November 30 resumption over this track-and-trip was more encouraging, with the four-year-old working home for fifth.
He then disappointed when quickly stepping to 1650m second-up, although that run came in an on-speed-dominated affair.
Dropping back in distance on Wednesday night, King Dance also has blinkers applied for the first time.
Po Shek Wu Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Sha Tin Value Bet - Race 6 No. 1 Vermilion Tempest
Vermilion Tempest recorded his debut victory in New Zealand on a synthetic surface.
He switches to the Sha Tin All-Weather track this evening after improving in his last two performances.
Those runs followed his first Hong Kong start over 1200m, where the trip proved too sharp.
While he has not threatened, the gelding has been fair late in his races and should appreciate stepping up to 1800m off his January 4 mile effort.
This is a weaker Class 4 assignment and, with the claim from apprentice Ellis Wong, he receives some weight relief.
Diamond Hill Handicap Tips (Race 7)
Sha Tin Best Bet - Race 7 No. 8 California Star
Zac Purton takes the reins on California Star and was aboard in a January 13 trial.
In that hit-out, the gelding was good past the line when under a hold.
He broke through at odds on the Sha Tin All-Weather track last March with a stylish victory from the rear.
Without winning again, he has remained largely consistent in seven subsequent runs, including a runner-up finish three starts back when seemingly home.
California Star then covered ground in a stronger race on December 27 before finishing late against the race shape.
Green Island Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Sha Tin Next Best Bet - Race 9 No. 13 Allcash
Allcash is a ten-time winner in Brazil who broke his Hong Kong drought first-up at Happy Valley on November 26.
He has since risen to Class 3 level, with his last two runs suggesting he can win again in this grade.
The grey remains well weighted and receives favourable swings on key rivals from recent clashes.
His All-Weather form has been consistent without winning, and he has been held up at crucial stages in his last two starts.
That included a third behind Another World on December 7, and with clear running this time, he looks well placed.
