What is a Quaddie?

A quaddie is betting on the winners of four nominated races, which are usually the final four races of any meeting. A quaddie is one of Australia's favourite betting types.

All bets placed on the quaddie go into a pool and a dividend is paid out for those successfully predicting the four winners of the races in question.

Punters can pick as many horses as they want for each race. You can select a single galloper or pick the entire field, depending on your level of confidence.

To win a quaddie, you must have selected all four winners. A dividend is then paid out and declared as a $1 unit and you are paid out according to your percentage investment.

How do you calculate quaddie percentages?

It sounds complicated but calculating quaddie percentages is a simple task.

Add up the number of runners that you have chosen for each leg and multiply them together. For example, if you selected two runners in the first leg, four runners in the second leg, three runners in the third leg and a standout single runner in the fourth leg, your calculation would be the following:

2 x 4 x 3 x 1 = 24

This means that it will cost you $24 if you wish to receive 100 per cent of the quaddie dividend.

Punters can invest as little or as much as they like on the quaddie, but like a win bet the dividend will change accordingly. On the example above a quaddie investment of $48 will get a 200 per cent dividend, while $12 will deliver 50.

Do all bookmakers offer quaddie betting?

Yes. All good Australian betting sites offer the option to place quadrella bets. In fact, you will struggle to find one which doesn't. From established bookmakers like Sportsbet to up-and-coming brands and new Australian bookmakers like TopSport and WinnersBet, you are not short on opportunities to place quaddies with.
