Caulfield Heath Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 6 Botanical Boy

Jamie Mott rode the most winners in Victoria last season, while his Caulfield Heath record over the past 12 months includes a strike rate of almost 21% and an ROI above 45%.

Mott stays aboard Botanical Boy following a solid return, where he was allowed to find his feet early before working home steadily for fifth-of-14 in a BM78 won by Touchdown, who scored impressively again last Saturday.

Still lightly raced for a five-year-old, Botanical Boy has always shown talent and appeared ready to progress through the grades when recording back-to-back victories at Geelong last summer.

He was never comfortable when fourth-of-10 at Flemington on January 17 and bled from both nostrils post-race, resulting in a spell before a trial and two jump-outs prepared him for his latest resumption.

With almost a month between his final morning hit-out and the Sandown return, there should be improvement to come, while the speed drawn outside could allow him to settle midfield or slightly closer and receive a suitable trail.

Drummond Golf Handicap Tips (Race 4)

Caulfield Heath Favourite - Race 4 No. 6 Jenni Multabella

This is the first time Jenni Multabella has progressed beyond her second run in a campaign, suggesting she has encountered some issues throughout her career.

Talent is not one of those concerns, and if she can remain sound during this third preparation, the Lloyd Kennewell-trained mare looks capable of progressing beyond this grade.

Her return at Sale was encouraging after covering ground and sticking to the task well, while we were with the daughter of Ace High when she rose in grade at Sandown on July 22.

Allowed to find her feet off the speed, Jenni Multabella sustained a wide run and saluted comfortably at an each-way price in a race containing an in-form Join The Que and the talented Silver Magnate, while eighth-placed Stay Silent won seven days later.

She now steps into metropolitan company against her own sex and rises to the mile for the first time, while her breeding suggests the distance will suit, as she is by a Derby winner and out of a Zabeel mare who is closely related to both a Victoria Derby and Wellington Cup winner.

Bottle Stop Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Caulfield Heath Roughie - Race 7 No. 4 Savour The Dream

Although he has not proved the easiest horse to catch, Savour The Dream has enough talent to put this field away, with a double-figure quote available for the risk involved.

He does need to respond after being well held at Caulfield on July 25, although the son of Super Seth was set a huge task in that appearance and was also a month between runs.

There were also excuses for his fourth-up failure at Caulfield, where EIPH was detected post-race, while the gelding had shown plenty of ability earlier through some aggressive three-year-old placements.

Given time after an end-of-season miss last winter and gelded ahead of his 2026 return, Savour The Dream produced pass marks in his first two runs back before winning a BM74 third-up at Mornington by three lengths.

The drop in grade is a major positive, while runner-up Oak Beach franked that Mornington form by winning by three-and-a-half lengths at Caulfield Heath next start.

Ranvet Travis Harrison Cup Tips (Race 8)

Caulfield Heath Value Bet - Race 8 No. 7 Jennivamoose

You do not find too many poor performances from Jennivamoose, with the Ciaron Maher-trained mare recording five wins and three placings while finishing outside the top four only twice.

She resumes from a lengthy spell after finishing fourth in the Group 3 Archer Stakes over 2500m last September, but has shown she can perform fresh from an extended break.

Returning from an even longer layoff over this distance at Sandown in May 2025, Jennivamoose rattled home for third in a race she may have won from a kinder barrier.

The daughter of Vadamos then won three of her next four appearances over longer distances, while her winter lead-up has included a quiet Caulfield trial and an encouraging Cranbourne jump-out behind Group 2-winning sprinter Hedged.

Jennivamoose was particularly strong late and past the line in that latest hit-out, and although a slight track upgrade would help first-up, her past two victories have both come on Soft ground.

Ladbrokes Mega Multi Handicap Tips (Race 9)

Caulfield Heath Best Bet - Race 9 No. 8 Changing Colours

Changing Colours finds a very winnable race in her bid for consecutive victories after making an excellent start to her first campaign for Lucy Yeomans.

There was good depth to the fillies and mares BM90 she resumed in at Flemington on June 20, where she came from back in the field against an on-speed pattern and recorded the fastest final 400m of the meeting.

Despite being a month between runs, the six-year-old progressed sharply when dropping to BM78 company at Flemington on July 18.

Briefly held up before looking the winner a long way from home, she opened up a two-length margin and recorded the fastest final 400m and 200m of the entire program.

Connections have opted against a claim and booked gun hoop Blake Shinn, while Changing Colours carries 1kg less in this BM84 and also boasts a previous third-up victory over this track and distance from her time with Chris Waller.
