We get an early look towards the spring at Randwick on Saturday with the running of the Missile Stakes, while a strong support program has been assembled around the Group 2 feature.

The rail is out four metres and the track is currently rated a Soft 6, although an upgrade or two is expected.

Looking for odds on the upcoming majors? The Group 1 Futures Markets have all of the action, including the Winx Stakes and Memsie Stakes, which are both contested later this month.

Randwick Tips August 8

MyPlates Handicap Tips (Race 4)

Randwick Value Bet - Race 4 No. 8 Deal N' Dash

Given he is a galloper who needs momentum and room to build, the wide draw could prove a positive for Deal N' Dash, while the switch back to the bigger surrounds of Royal Randwick is also in his favour fourth-up.

The Bjorn Baker-trained galloper now has a fitness platform, including a 2400m hit-out on July 18, where he was on a seven-day turnaround and rising sharply by 600m in distance, so there should be further improvement to come.

He was good without luck in that latest appearance, drawing barrier one and unable to work through his gears when required, but still finding the line fairly with the second-fastest final 200m of the race.

That followed another sound second-up performance on Heavy ground, and while both July runs were competitive, getting back onto firmer ground may also suit on Saturday.

Deal N' Dash has not saluted since landing good bets early last year, when taking a month of Sundays to wind up over 1500m at Rosehill, but remains lightly raced approaching start 10 in just his third campaign, whereas every rival here is more exposed.

TAB Premier's Cup Prelude Tips (Race 7)

Randwick Roughie - Race 7 No. 11 Poison Chalice

Blinkers going on is often regarded as one of the most important gear changes, and it deserves even more respect when coming from the Joe Pride stable.

The master trainer has enjoyed great success when applying the key gear change, often allowing a horse to poke along early in a campaign as its fitness builds before putting the blinkers on.

That has been the case with Poison Chalice, an ex-Victorian who was frustrating in Melbourne but always showed above-average ability.

Following a somewhat plain stable debut for Pride on June 20, his past two winter performances have been okay without threatening, while he carried big weights of 62kg second-up and 61kg last time.

Hard fit and dropping to just 53kg, Poison Chalice has a win and a second from three starts over 1800m, while Alysha Collett takes the reins after recording 15 winners and 26 placings in July.

Randwick Feature Bet - Race 8 No. 1 Angel Capital

Coming off a frustrating first season under Chris Waller is Angel Capital, with the entire still chasing an elusive Group 1 victory despite producing several performances that confirmed he belongs at the elite level.

Following a first-up triumph over this distance last September, he arguably should have landed the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes before recording the fastest closing sectionals of The Everest behind champion sprinter Ka Ying Rising, while a Group 1 second to Jimmysstar followed later in the spring.

The son of Harry Angel was keen in the run when fourth in the Expressway Stakes on his 2026 return, with the quinella from that event both progressing to win at Group 1 level during the autumn, before his third in the Newmarket Handicap and runner-up finish in the William Reid Stakes further underlined his quality.

Badly held up in the All Aged Stakes before a spell, Angel Capital returns as the deserving favourite and, as the best-performed sprinter over this distance, needs to put this field away if connections are to press on towards stronger Group 1 features.

Ninja is the obvious danger, while Way To The Stars can add value to exotics after resuming under a big weight on heavy ground at Rosehill, with his superior firmer-track record and early speed allowing this underrated veteran to give a bold sight.

Toyota Forklifts Handicap Tips (Race 9)

Randwick Best Bet - Race 9 No. 3 Scripted

On paper, Scripted's latest campaign reads like a bridesmaid's résumé, although the only time she arguably had every chance was when narrowly beaten into second in a Scone Wild Card before a spell.

The Matthew Dunn-trained mare did not quite run out a strong 1400m there, while her only unplaced effort in eight career starts came when seventh-of-18 on January 17 as a single-figure chance, despite recording the fastest final 400m of the entire Magic Millions Day program.

She was freshened after that appearance and was found to have a sore back when placing at Doomben, while she was also unsuited in her first three summer runs when finishing second each time after returning from almost 15 months off.

This is not a strong affair, with second favourite Ernaux having won one of 16 starts, Rose Aye bringing only country and Highway form from a wide draw, and Mareth appearing the biggest threat on class, but she's drawn out,

Scripted won both starts in her first campaign and possesses the best turn-of-foot in this race, giving her every opportunity to turn a consistent run of placings into a victory.

Chandon Handicap Tips (Race 10)

Randwick Next Best Bet - Race 10 No. 4 Watson

He landed the cash for us first-up at Canterbury, narrowly prevailing despite not absolutely relishing the Soft 7 surface.

The son of Capitalist should take further fitness benefit from that Canterbury hit-out, where he and Clear Proof cleared right away from the rest of the field.

That form was franked when Clear Proof saluted in style at Canterbury on Wednesday and, more importantly, it ties in through Columbia Blue, who is the second market elect for the Randwick nightcap.

Clear Proof easily accounted for Snack Bar in that midweek victory, while Columbia Blue held only a half-length margin over Snack Bar when saluting second-up at Rosehill and now carries 2.5kg more third-up.

Tim Clark should roll forward from the wide draw and put Watson on speed, with the jockey in hot form after a winning treble at Rosehill last Saturday and boasting 43 winners at nearly 23% for Waterhouse and Bott over the past 12 months.
