Official Track Manager Comments

The Valley at Caulfield Heath, track is currently rated a soft seven with the rail in the three-metre position.

We've recorded 7.6 miller rainfall for the week, predominately there on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Track's had a considerable break off of racing with the last race meeting on the 17th of June. That being said, it is a warm season turf. So we will see slight discoloration, but nothing better affect racing.

Forecast race day Saturday is a top of 17, partly cloudy. Looks like we might get a bit of rain there in the afternoon, but nothing serious, hopefully.

A strong north, easily wind, which is 25 to 35 Ks, which will fly over their sort of right hand shoulder and the side straight.

Official Track Manager Comments

Track's currently rated a soft six this morning (now a Soft 5). Had 10.1 mils of rain in the last seven days. Nothing in the last 24 hours.

Rail been pushed back into the four meter position for the races on Saturday. We were out 11 meters at our previous meeting at Fortnight ago.

Yeah, we got lovely weather coming into the meeting. We've got a fine day today with top around 19 degrees, fine on Friday, fine on Friday and fine on Saturday again.

We've got winds coming out from the west probably about 15 to 30 kilometres.

Official Track Release

Grass coverage: Good/Fair.

Rail position and why: 12m entire. Moving out to best possible ground.

How it played last time: Two winners settled forward, six settled midfield and one settled towards the rear.

Verdict: The track is currently rated a Soft 6 at the time of walking and is not expected to improve before Saturday.

The weather forecast suggests a shower or two is possible on Friday, with a greater chance of showers on Saturday.

The course proper at Morphettville has had a solid winter of racing, so the club has moved the rail to the 12m position in search of the best available ground. The track has a reasonable cover of grass in this position for most of the circuit.

Some marking is visible in lanes one and two from the 800m to the 400m before spreading lightly and evenly across the straight through to the winning post.

Extensive marking is visible past the winning post to the 2000m as a result of excessive traffic over the past two months.
