Belmont hosts eight races this Saturday, led by the Listed Idyllic Prince Stakes. The track is rated Good 4, with conditions expected to stay steady despite showers. Top selections include So Si God as the best bet in Race 1, Triple The Chant as a value play in Race 4, King Of Light favored in the feature Race 7, and Roaming America as a roughie in Race 8. King Of Light is tipped to bounce back after a Group 1 setback, while each selection has strong recent form or improvement signs, making them valuable betting opportunities.

Belmont Tips August 22

Tabtouch - Westspeed Platinum Handicap Tips (Race 1)

Belmont Best Bet - Race 1 No. 6 So Si God

Although 1000m looks an obvious query for the resuming So Si God given her first campaign was spent between 1200m and 1400m, her August 3 Belmont trial win suggested the Casey-trained mare has returned a stronger type ahead of this second preparation.

She won that latest hit-out without being knocked around and recorded comfortably the fastest 1000m trial of the morning, with the runner-up Prospector's Pick a useful sprinter and three-time Saturday metropolitan winner rated above anything she meets here.

While unable to salute after an Ascot debut victory in February, So Si God still finished in the money in four subsequent starts, with solid form around both her Belmont and Ascot appearances, including two placings behind Searchin' Times and a close second to Urquharts Bluff, who has since won twice this winter in decent company.

She may not have run out a strong 1400m in two of those placings anyway, so there is some merit in connections preparing her as a sprinter this time around.

Even if not completely wound up first-up, this is only an average race and So Si God's class may be enough to get her home fresh.

Belmont Value Bet - Race 4 No. 6 Triple The Chant

If connections were desperate for a victory, it was interesting to see Triple The Chant scratched from what looked a very winnable Class 5 at Pinjarra on Thursday to instead tackle this One Metro Win affair at Belmont.

Barrier nine is not the end of the world given her usual racing pattern, and while Cinque Stelle is clearly the one to beat after bolting in with her past two starts, the depth outside the short favourite looks questionable.

A big each-way price is available for the half-sister to talented Listed winner Triple Missile, who looks ideally placed getting back to the mile given her last two victories came in back-to-back 1650m events at Belmont early last season.

She probably stayed at 1400m for one run too long when third-up on July 25, but it was still another strong performance as she recorded the fastest last 200m of that 60+ and should now be ready to peak fourth-up.

She will need a few favours and for the track to be playing fairly to swoopers, but Triple The Chant is clearly going well and the current odds make her an appealing each-way play.

Idyllic Prince Stakes Tips (Race 7)

Belmont Feature Bet - Race 7 No. 9 King Of Light

All eyes will be on the resuming King Of Light, arguably the best horse in the state and a galloper with The Golden Eagle firmly on the agenda later in the spring.

He was given plenty of time after suffering his first defeat when comfortably beaten as favourite in the Group 1 Northerly Stakes in December, where he did pull up with excuses and may simply not have run out a strong 1800m after reaching the end of his preparation.

Happy to put a line through that effort given his brilliant earlier performances over shorter trips, and 1300m looks an ideal starting point following two winter trials.

The son of Earthlight won his latest Lark Hill trial on August 10 under William Pike, who has partnered him in all six career starts, including a Belmont victory on Soft ground last winter and a dominant Group 2 WA Guineas success in November.

An exciting galloper with a big turn-of-foot, King Of Light should be forward enough to put his Idyllic Prince Stakes rivals away first-up.

Belmont Roughie - Race 8 No. 7 Roaming America

Roaming America has done little wrong through six starts, recording two wins and a third after being given time following a debut fifth-of-11 at Northam last October when going too hard in front.

The son of Rommel may simply be a horse who improves with racing, having been a little keen when resuming on February 25 before progressing sharply second and third-up with back-to-back victories.

That campaign ended with a third in a 56+ at Belmont behind the very smart Ladies Pro, who later rounded out her winter preparation with two Listed victories at the track.

Off only a fair trial, Roaming America's August 1 return was more than a pass mark, with fitness appearing to give out late after he had been respected in the market first-up.

There is speed drawn around him, but he should still roll forward under Jarrod Noske and, with a proven pattern of improving deeper into a campaign, the lightly raced gelding looks over the odds despite there being some depth to this field.
