Randwick Guineas Barrier Draw & Final Field

A competitive field has been assembled for the 2023 Randwick Guineas, where we see Aft Cabin (barrier 10) and Osipenko (barrier four) clash again from the Hobartville Stakes, with the Chris Waller colt upsetting the Godolphin three-year-old in that February 18 lead-up.

Beaten as a $1.60 favourite after covering ground over the 1400m at Rosehill, Aft Cabin did arrive to that second-up attempt following a dominant return in the Eskimo Prince Stakes.

While James McDonald takes back the reins for the Randwick Guineas, he has another wide draw to overcome, whereas Osipenko will jump from barrier four under Nash Rawiller.

The son of Pierro was unlucky in last year's Caulfield Guineas and arrives to this feature fit now third-up from a spell.

Victoria Derby winner Manzoice (barrier 14) and Lindermann (barrier 12) have also accepted from the Waller yard.

One of the majors on the second Sydney Group 1 meeting of the calendar year, the Randwick Guineas is the first leg of the Australian Three Year Old "Triple Crown", which also includes the Rosehill Guineas (2000m) and Australian Derby (2400m).

The Randwick Guineas replaced the Canterbury Guineas, which was contested in early spring as opposed to the autumn position in now holds.

While past winners include champions in Todman and Octagonal, the Randwick Guineas has arguably become a stronger race in modern times, with Weekend Hussler, Shoot Out, Mosheen, Dissident, It's A Dundeel and The Autumn Sun all notable winners of this three-year-old feature over the last 15 years.

Shadow Hero (2020), Lion's Roar (2021) and Converge (2022) have won the last three editions of the Randwick Guineas.
