2025 Moir Stakes Tips

2025 Moir Stakes Best Bet - Skybird

It was a shame that injury put an end to her autumn ambitions, with Skybird spelled following a stylish fresh victory in the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning.

Despite proving herself over a mile at Group 2 level in her first campaign, trainer Mitchell Freedman has kept her to the sprinting caper in subsequent preps.

Her brilliance is evident at any trip and leading into her Moir Stakes resumption, she completed a quiet jump-out at Caulfield Heath before taking out a Horsham heat on August 27.

She was able to take a position in that last workout and while unlikely to contest the early speed influences, she could be dangerous late if within striking distance.

2025 Moir Stakes Next Best Bet - Niance

She has been easy in the market since the barrier draw, however the price looks fair enough at around $5 with Niance clearly here to roll in this fresh assignment.

Trainer Grahame Begg has been in terrific form to start the new season and to bring the daughter of Swiss Ace on for this fresh attempt, she has completed two jump-outs and a trial.

Injury prevented her from contesting the major autumn features, yet she returned in style on May 31 and that triumph secured a fourth straight win.

She has a terrific overall strike rate and an unblemished four-from-four fresh record, and while there are some map queries, she profiles as a genuine Group 1 sprinter.

2025 Moir Stakes Value Bet - Arabian Summer

Arabian Summer was at the end of her campaign when failing in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes, with two runs in Queensland and a pair of Melbourne starts already completed.

Keeping her to shorter distances now looks more suitable, with the mare having recorded three wins and two seconds from five attempts over 1000m.

She has always come to hand early, with two wins and a second from three first-up runs, and she was brave in the Oakleigh Plate after winning two of her first three summer starts.

Her January form through Private Harry and Lady Of Camelot reads well, as does the fresh win of King Of Roseau last year, and she has completed two jump-outs ahead of this return.
