The Chris Waller-trained mare handled the rise in class with authority and has since enjoyed a quiet trial at Randwick.

Her progression has been perfectly managed, resulting in a flawless record, and she now seeks to stretch that streak to eight when tackling the 1500m feature.

Linebacker (barrier 5) impressed second-up with victory in The Silver Eagle and is no stranger to Group 1 success, having claimed the Randwick Guineas third-up in autumn before a luckless Doncaster Mile run.

The John O’Shea and Tom Charlton-trained gelding thrives around this distance and appears to be peaking perfectly for another major performance.

Japanese contender Panja Tower (barrier 4) adds an international flavour to the race, having won four of six starts, including a Group 3 in August.

He brings form and momentum from Japan, following in the footsteps of Obamburumai, who captured the Golden Eagle for Japan in 2023.

Evaporate (barrier 7) also shapes as a genuine chance, bringing strong form through Transatlantic after beating that runner in the Sandown Stakes before being narrowly turned over in the Toorak Handicap.

Transatlantic franked that form with a dominant win in the Five Diamonds Prelude last Saturday.

Seagulls Eleven (barrier 3) is a talented UK visitor trained by Hugo Palmer, a Group 3 winner at Goodwood who is being aimed at feature races in Australia this spring.

Group 1 winners Sepals (barrier 6) and Willydoit (barrier 11) also take their place in The Golden Eagle field, with the 2025 edition scheduled to be run at Randwick on Saturday, November 1.

The Golden Eagle Winners

The Golden Eagle has quickly become one of Australia’s most significant modern additions to the racing calendar, providing major incentive for connections to keep talented colts in work rather than sending them to stud as four-year-olds.

Traditionally held at Rosehill, the 1500m feature carries a staggering $10 million in prizemoney and was first contested in 2019.

In 2025, the race will be staged at Randwick, continuing the evolution of one of the country’s richest and most exciting events.

Past winners include Kolding (2019), Colette (2020), I’m Thunderstruck (2021), I Wish I Win (2022), Obamburumai (2023) and Lake Forest (2024), highlighting the calibre and international appeal the Golden Eagle has already achieved.
