A typically competitve Coolmore Classic field has been assembled for 2024 and champion trainer Chris Waller has accepted with four runners, with Zougotcha (barrier 2) among those entries and she carries topweight of 57kg.
After a somewhat disappointing 2023, having won just one of six outings over the last calendar year, Zougotcha was sharp on return when taking out the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes on February 24.
The daughter of Zoustar was spotting race fitness and 3kg to an in-form Lady Laguna (runner-up) in that 1300m event and the first two did clear out from the rest of the field.
Zougotcha was a Group 1 winner as an early three-year-old when taking out the 2022 Flight Stakes by two lengths and the mare is effective on all surfaces.
Chris Waller also prepares Group 1 winners Hinged (barrier 15) and Madame Pommery (barrier 16), while he also has Vienna Princess (barrier 8), who arrives here second-up.
An honest galloper who was working through the grades, the Ciaron Maher-trained Semana (barrier 11) has gone to a new level this time in, having followed up a two-length Magic Millions Cup triumph with victory in the Group 3 Triscay Stakes on February 17.
Ciaron Maher will also be represented by Yonce (barrier 1) and Jennilala (barrier 4), who are both last start winners.
Tropical Squall (barrier 17) will have her fair of admirers after recording a second Group 1 win on return via the Surround Stakes on March 2 and staying in the 1400m-1600m range suits her, as the filly didn't appear to stay when on a VRC Oaks path last prep.
Revolutionary Miss (barrier 13) has been in great touch, with the mare arriving here off back-to-back Group 3 victories in Melbourne and her recent form through Eternal Flame and Running By has stood up.
18 runners make up the final field for the 2024 Coolmore Classic, which is one of the more premier and recognizable mares races on the calendar.

Coolmore Classic Winners
First run as the Fillies & Mares Classic in 1973, this event was one of the first fillies and mares features introduced in Sydney, gaining Group 1 status in 1986 and run as the Coolmore Classic from 1996.
Contested over 1500m at Rosehill under handicap conditions, the Coolmore Classic winner is exempt from ballot for the 2023 Doncaster Mile and the 2023 Queen Of The Turf, which are both contested later in the Sydney carnival at Randwick.
Krone (2021), Lighthouse (2022) and Espiona (2023) have won the last three editions of the Coolmore Classic.
