Hitotsu went straight from the mile of the Caulfield Guineas to contest the 2500m Victoria Derby last spring and is attempting a similar pattern here, stepping from the 1600m of the Australian Guineas.
The favourite will jump from barrier four under John Allen, who is looking for back-to-back Australian Derby wins for the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace stable, having combined with Explosive Jack last year.
Can't Go Wrong (barrier 6) and Elzamee (barrier 1) are also prepared by Ciaron Maher & David Eustace.
Champion New Zealand trainer Murray Baker will retire at the end of the Sydney Autumn Carnival and co-trainer Andrew Forsman is set to take over the stable going forward.
Baker has prepared 22 Australian Group 1 winners, a record for a NZ-based trainer and will be looking to add yet another Australian Derby, with Regal Lion (barrier 10) and White Noise (barrier 21) his 2022 contenders.
Murray's son, Bjorn Baker has War Eternal (barrier 9), Maurice's Medad (barrier 16), Sea Treasures (barrier 17) and Akahata (barrier 20) in the Australian Derby final field.
James Cummings (Alegron - barrier 3, Character - barrier 11), Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young (Forgot You - barrier 13, Footlights - barrier 2) and Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott (Castlereagh Kid - barrier 12, Zoumon - barrier 5) have dual representation.
