While he hasn’t hit his straps in two 2026 appearances, 1400m could be what Jimmysstar is looking for third-up as he steps to seven furlongs in the All Aged Stakes, a race he won last year.

The son of Per Incanto was one of the more consistent top-liners throughout 2025, recording three Group 1 victories over the calendar year.

At $2.90 with Unibet Australia, Jimmysstar is favourite to win the 2026 All Aged Stakes.

Giga Kick ($5) is another prior winner of the All Aged Stakes, having taken out this 1400m feature as a three-year-old back in 2023.

The gelding had some excuses first-up in the Black Caviar Lightning and has caught the eye in his last two attempts, including a runner-up finish in the TJ Smith Stakes on April 4.

Angel Capital is still searching for a first Group 1 win, but the colt has improved since an Expressway Stakes return flop on February 14, with Group 1 placings at his last two appearances.

The latest was a 1200m second in the William Reid Stakes behind an in-form Jigsaw.

He sits on the third line of betting at $6, alongside Beiwacht and Fangirl.

Beiwacht, The Golden Rose winner earlier in the season, has since won a tick-over trial following his George Ryder Stakes attempt.

Fangirl is an interesting resumer at the same quote, with the four-time Group 1 winner boasting solid fresh statistics and is likely to get her preferred good ground here.

All Aged Stakes Winners

The All Aged Stakes dates back to 1865 and boasts an honour roll that reads like a history of Australian racing’s greatest champions.

Early winners include legends such as Carbine, Wakeful, Ajax—the only horse to win the race three times—alongside Bernborough and Tulloch, while more recent standouts feature Rough Habit, Sunline and Atlantic Jewel.

The Group 1 event was contested over the mile at Royal Randwick until 2004, when the distance was shortened to 1400 metres to better suit elite sprinters backing up from the TJ Smith Stakes and to align with Australia’s evolving short-course racing landscape.

Recent editions have been dominated by top-level sprinter-milers, with Giga Kick (2023), Magic Time (2024) and Jimmysstar (2025) claiming the past three renewals.
