The Swedish Open in Bastad, a premier ATP 250 clay event, is back with top international seeds and strong Argentine representation. Recent trends show Argentine players frequently reaching the finals, making them prime picks for 2026. Mariano Navone is strongly backed based on recent clay performance, alongside fellow Argentine Tirante and value pick Daniel Altmaier. The article recommends keeping Altmaier as an outside bet, while expecting Navone and Tirante to make deep runs. Live streaming is available via Unibet, but geo-restrictions apply. Bettors should focus on in-form clay court specialists.

ATP Bastad Outright Winner Best Bets

As you can see, Argentina has three seeded players for this edition of the Swedish Open and I'm keen to have a stake in two of them.

Three Argentine players have made the final in the last five Bastad tournaments and I'm confident at least one of these players can join them over the next week.

Mariano Navone

Navone thrives in these types of tournaments and conditions - he's already won an ATP 250 on European clay in Bucharest earlier this season, while he brings pretty strong form into this event.

Indeed, Navone also finished runner-up in Geneva to Casper Ruud, along with beating Felix Auger-Aliassime in Rome and taking a set off Roland Garros champion Alexander Zverev in Madrid.

The 25-year-old was edged out in a fifth-set tiebreak at the French Open by Jakub Mensik, who went on to make the semi-finals, while he was competitive on his least-preferred surface of grass at Wimbledon, going down in a tight four-setter to Flavio Cobolli, who ended up reaching the quarter-finals.

Navone now returns to his beloved clay and with strong form over the last couple of months in these conditions. He has a first round bye as one of the top four seeds and has landed in a pretty favourable section of the draw. He should be advancing to the semi-finals at the very least and that's good enough for me to jump on at $7.00.

Thiago Agustin Tirante

Tirante is another Argentine who has registered some impressive results on the dirt this season.

Indeed, Tirante made his first ATP final in Houston and followed it up with some solid showings across Europe, including beating Tommy Paul in Madrid and advancing to the R16 in Rome, where he conquered Cobolli.

Tirante also progressed to the third round of Roland Garros, defeating Alejandro Davidovich Fokina before a close four-set loss to a resurgent Pablo Carreno Busta.

The 25-year-old faces an out-of-form Sebastian Ofner in the first round and is seeded to meet Alejandro Tabilo in the quarter-finals before a possible semi-final with top seed Andrey Rublev. Not an easy draw by any means, but recent form on European clay points to some value at $13.

Daniel Altmaier

I'm always pretty bullish on Altmaier at big value as the German has huge potential, he just struggles to put it all together for sustained periods, which obviously is a worry for an outright tournament winner bet.

Small stake only is always the rule with Altmaier at these sorts of odds, but he's a very dangerous player. Altmaier recently made the semi-finals of Halle, beating Daniil Medvedev and Hubert Hurkacz, while he took eventual quarter-finalist Felix Auger-Aliassime to five sets in the first round of Roland Garros.

Altmaier has a struggling Hugo Gaston in the first round before a second round clash with defending champion Luciano Darderi, who has been down on confidence and form lately. Altmaier has a habit of lifting for big matches and elite opposition, so I want to have something small on the man with the big single-handed backhand if he starts to generate some momentum here.
