Sydney FC will take on Perth Glory in their final A-League match on Saturday, looking to cement their place within the top six. Despite the travel, Sydney is favored to win, given Perth's poor season with only two victories from 18 matches. Sydney FC has been dominant in past encounters, securing the last two match-ups with a whopping 10-1 aggregate. While a clean sheet might elude Sydney, Perth could still score. This match is crucial for Sydney to solidify their position, with Perth struggling to avoid finishing bottom.

After securing their passage through to the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League 2 mid-week in Thailand, the Sky Blues now head to Perth, where they will be hoping to consolidate their spot inside the top six. It's a bit of travel no doubt, but I think Sydney represent decent value against one of the worst teams in the A-League. Glory have managed just two wins from their 18 games this term, while Sydney have been dominant against them in recent times, winning the last two encounters by a combined 10-1 score. Clean sheets have been hard to come by for Sydney all season, so Perth can get on the scoresheet in defeat.

  • Perth have won just two of their 18 games this season
  • Perth have lost eight of their 10 home games this season
  • Sydney are unbeaten in 10 of their last 12 games in all competitions
  • Sydney have won four of the last five meetings
  • Sydney have seen BTTS land in their last four games

Head To Head

Sydney have won four of the last five meetings, with Perth prevailing just once since 2019. Sydney came away with a comfortable 3-0 victory back in Round 11 this season, with Joe Lolley scoring a hat-trick.

Perth Glory Form

Another disappointing season for Glory, who are languishing in second-last spot on the ladder, losing 12 of their 18 games and winning just twice.

There's not much else to say that hasn't already been said throughout the season - Perth are simply a class below the majority of sides in the A-League and the remainder of their campaign will be about avoiding the wooden spoon.

Glory have lost eight of their 10 home games this season, while they are coming off a 1-0 defeat to Melbourne City last week.

Perth Glory Team News

Patrick Wood is unavailable due to his loan agreement with Sydney, while the likes of Josh Risdon and David Williams remain injured.

Sydney FC Form

Sydney have been in solid form over the last couple of months, going unbeaten in 10 of their last 12 games in all competitions.

Attention lately has been on the AFC Champions League 2, where Sydney edged out Bangkok United in extra-time mid-week to advance to the quarter-finals, setting up a glamour tie with South Korean giants Jeonbuk Motors.

The Sky Blues were looking good in the A-League before that Champions League clash, beating Adelaide 4-1 before drawing 3-3 with the Wanderers. Adrian Segecic continues to flourish, with the young attacker assisting and scoring in the win over Bangkok.

Sydney FC Team News

Alex Grant could make his A-League debut for Sydney against his former club, while Talay may opt to rotate his squad with the quick turnaround.

Verdict

It's a quick turnaround for Sydney, but this is a very important game in their A-League season as they look to remain in the top six.

Three points against teams like Perth are absolutely essential, so I don't think we'll see a let-up from Sydney here. Backing the visitors to continue their dominance over Perth, but the hosts can find the back of the net at home.
