2025 Women’s State of Origin Game 3 Player of the Match Tips
NSW Blues Women vs Queensland Maroons Women Player of the MatchPredictions
The Player of the Match isn’t always the one who bags a goal or sets one up, it often goes to the player who’s put in the most effort across the full contest.
In Game 1 the award went to NSW Prop Simaima Taufa who had 14 runs for 134 Run Metres which included 61 post Contact Metres. She also made 14 tackles in her 40 minutes on the park lending weight to the trend of true workhorses being rewarded for their efforts.
In Game 2 it was Blues lock-forward Olivia Kernick who took out the award with 2 tries, 1 try assist, 2 Linebreaks and 1 Linebreak Assist to go with 35 tackles and 242 Run Metres in the NSW victory which secured the series win.
With Game 3 tipped to be another NSW victory and an historic first whitewash for the Blues it is almost a guarantee that another Blue will pick up the award in the final game of the series.
- A NSW player has won the award in both games played in this series.
- Only once in the past 6 games has a player from a losing team won Player of the Match.
- Only one player Tazmin Gray (QLD) has won the player of the Match award twice
- A forward has won the award in 7 of 10 games since 2020.
Bets.com.au has put together their picks for the Player of the Match Award for Game 3 of the 2025 Women’s Origin Series between New South Wales and Queensland.
Jesse Southwell - NSW
We are going against the trends of a forward getting the Player of the Match and it is partly based on the series as a whole. Southwell has been amazing in both Game 1 and Game 2, steering the Blues around the park, setting up tries and kicking goals.
Somewhere she will need to be recognised for these efforts and my prediction is that in a Game 3 where NSW are likely to sweep QLD it would be the perfect situation.

Sienna Lofipo - QLD
Sienna Lofipo was one of the standouts in a losing side in Game 1 and probably the best QLD forward in Game 2. Playing the full 70 minutes in both games, she has topped tackle counts, ran for more metres than most of her counterparts and is just consistently good.
Should QLD win Game 3 it is likely that Lofipo is a major reason behind that with her defence and running and will be front and centre to be chosen for the award.
