Queensland have been outclassed in every aspect of the 2025 series with NSW dominating both encounters by running over the Maroons through the middle with a much more aggressive and effective forward pack that has laid the platform for their backs, that is they have not simply run through them themselves.

Queensland’s attack has been flat and have now been forced to make some changes that are more likely to hinder their chemistry than enhance it. On the other side, NSW will run out with the same 17 and will be out for Maroon blood once again.

I expect the Blues to get on top early, with the trend of a try in the first 10 mins of the match continuing to pay. NSW will then want to put this result out of question to ensure that they dominate with a 3-0 series victory and will win by 13+ once again.

Tries have flowed for the forwards for the Blues and after her Player of the Match performance in Game two, Olivia Kernick will be hungry for more as she torments the Queenslanders once again, crossing for her third try of the series.

  • NSW have won both matches by a margin of 20 points this series
  • NSW have accumulated over 500m more run metres than QLD in both matches in 2025.
  • The first try has been scored within the first 10 minutes in 8 of 10 matches since 2020.
  • QLD have given up 4 tries to forwards in this series.

Head to Head

Two teams in two different classes in the 2025 series. The Blues have dominated the middle in both matches while closing the door at the other end of the field.

NSW beat QLD 32-12 at Suncorp in Game 1, followed by a 26-6 victory in torrential rain at Allianz Stadium in Game 2.

Queensland Maroons Women Form Analysis

The Maroons were simply off the pace in Game 2, unable to create any threatening chances with the little possession that they had in the match. It was much of the same story in Game 1, spending too much time defending their own line then being not able to create any spark for a real revival once the Blues got on top.

QLD failed to create a linebreak in the match, compared to the Blues who broke through 5 times. The Maroons were simply out muscled through the middle with the Blues tallying up 46 tackle busts compared to just 10 when they had the ball.

For the second match in a row, Sienna Lofipo was phenomenal in defence in a losing side, making a game-high 42 tackles for the Maroons.

Keilee Joseph will miss the match, while Georgia Hannaway will make her debut along with Maddick.

Ali Brigginshaw will shift to lock with Lauren Brown coming into the halves. Destiny Brill will take over at hooker.

NSW Blues Women Form Analysis

The Blues didn’t leave anything to chance in Game 2, wrapping up the series 2-0 with a 26-6 victory over the Maroons in an even more dominant performance than they produced in their 20-point victory in Game 1.

NSW starved Queensland of possession, winning the battle of the ball 58%-42% on the back of completing 33 of 42 sets in the pouring rain. With the weight of the ball on their side, the NSW engine room ran for 588 more run metres than QLD, which was a smudge over 50% of the total metres gained for the Maroons.

Olivia Kernick was a big part of the success for the Blues in Game two, topping the Blues tackle count with 35 while also leading the match with 242 run metres, being rewarded for her efforts with two tries.

NSW Blues Women Team News

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. NSW coach John Strange has made no changes to his 17 with the only tweak being Olivia Higgins moves into the No. 18.
