Randwick Next Best Bet - Race 4 No. 1 Hello Captain

Looking well placed again is Hello Captain, a progressive type from the Chris Waller yard who has completed a hat-trick since a runner-up finish at Doomben in December.

While some greenness has been evident, he is continuing to improve, with this campaign opening via a Warwick Farm victory on May 20.

That win came with the fastest last 800m, 600m and 400m of the meeting.

The best performance of the three wins was his latest at Canterbury, where Hello Captain bolted in carrying 62kg in a 1250m event that rated strongly for the June 8 program.

He gets a 1.5kg weight drop for a race that is not much harder, and with Nash Rawiller remaining aboard, there is no reason the winning run cannot continue if he enjoys even luck from a low draw.

B&J Guttering & Metal Roofing Handicap Tips (Race 5)

Randwick Favourite - Race 5 No. 5 Nasebah

Off some encouraging lead-up work, Nasebah landed the cash on Australian debut at Randwick-Kensington on May 13 with a dominant victory over 1800m.

The daughter of Kingman now returns to that distance third-up after dropping back to a mile last start as a beaten favourite.

That journey reduction did not suit in her June 6 appearance, where she was also held up at key stages rounding the turn.

Nasebah reunites with in-form senior rider Tommy Berry, who is striking at 25% in June.

He has also ridden 30 winners for Chris Waller this season at a strike-rate of almost 16%, and over a more suitable trip in a Benchmark 78 that lacks depth, she gets every chance to bounce back.

Cactus Imaging Handicap Tips (Race 8)

Randwick Best Bet - Race 8 No. 2 Bustling

Despite resuming from a lengthy spell with 62kg on May 9, Bustling was still respected in betting and produced a performance that was better than a pass mark.

The gelding was giving significant weight to the first two home at Caulfield, and the winner has since scored again at Sandown.

Bustling then found one better on Heavy ground in the Bel Esprit Stakes on May 30 as a beaten favourite.

There were no major excuses there apart from still building fitness second-up after a long absence, while the winner found the superior ground down the outside.

This looks a smart move to Sydney and, with very little speed drawn inside him, Bustling should be able to cross under Tommy Berry, while firmer ground third-up will also be in his favour.

Drinkwise Civic Stakes Tips (Race 9)

Randwick Feature Bet - Race 9 No. 3 General Salute

The Civic Stakes has been the winter target for General Salute, who resumed with a runner-up finish over 1100m on June 6.

He recorded the fastest last 400m and 200m of the entire program in that return and, while a wide draw has to be overcome, the classy five-year-old brings the best exposed form into the race.

The five-year-old placed in all four starts during his previous campaign, with those races all won by Group 1 winners.

That includes an unlucky third over this distance behind Headley Grange and Gringotts, who are both Group 1 weight-for-age winners.

General Salute is the starting point, while the talented Poison Chalice demands respect on stable debut for Joe Pride, who so often improves tried horses, and McHale is capable and brings an excellent fresh record into the contest.

Ranvet Robbie Hoffmann Handicap Tips (Race 10)

Randwick Value Bet - Race 10 No. 8 Super Norwest

We're only going back to last summer to find Super Norwest bringing up back-to-back fillies and mares Benchmark 78 victories at Randwick.

While both wins came over 1200m, she also has strong seven-furlong references, having won twice over this distance.

The five-year-old arrives third-up, with her Wagga Town Plate return fair without being disgraced.

There were excuses second-up on May 30 when she covered ground throughout on a Heavy 9 track and did well to finish sixth of 13, beaten less than two lengths.

Firmer ground should suit on Saturday and, with Braith Nock taking 1.5kg off after she carried 2kg more second-up without favours, the underrated mare looks over the odds in the finale.
