Doomben Roughie - Race 2 No. 11 Our Brave Lini

The daughter of Heroic Valour has delivered three honest efforts to date, including a four-length defeat on debut at this track.

She followed that performance by finishing fifth over 1200m and repeated the result when rising to 1400m at Eagle Farm second-up.

She again tracked the speed at Ipswich last start and produced her best effort when placing third with blinkers applied for the first time.

All three runs have come on Good 4 ground, but she handled a wet-track trial here in September, suggesting softer conditions shouldn’t be an issue.

While the wide alley is a negative, the rise in trip appeals, and she looks capable of surprising on her return to this circuit.

Doomben Next Best Bet - Race 3 No. 6 Just Legendary

The three-year-old showed talent in two juvenile outings for the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable, finishing in the top three both times.

He debuted on a Soft 6 track at Gosford when beaten under a length in a race where the first two cleared out from the remainder.

He then produced another solid effort at Randwick Kensington despite the margin when again racing over 1100m in strong company.

The winner that day, Raging Force, went on to win his next two starts, including a Group 3 victory at Rosehill.

He has trialled well ahead of his return, and with barrier six in his favour, he looks well placed to break through.

XXXX Class 1 Handicap Tips (Race 6)

Doomben Value Bet - Race 6 No. 9 Spirit Of Nurai

The daughter of Spirit Of Boom is a proven wet-track performer, with all seven of her top-three finishes coming on Soft or Heavy ground.

She was runner-up in a Class 2 event at Ipswich three starts ago on a Soft 7 track and backed that up with another second on Soft 5 ground.

She handled the rise to 1350m in that second Ipswich run, with her rider losing the whip at the 200m yet still finishing off strongly.

The form from that race has held up, with the fifth-placed runner winning since, while she had genuine excuses last start when finishing down the track.

She returned lame on a Good 4 surface that day, and with an inside draw and a return to wet ground, she appeals as a value chance.

Magic Millions Carnival Soon Benchmark 68 Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Doomben Best Bet - Race 7 No. 8 Tommy Thug

The Irish-bred gelding has produced strong wet-track form previously, including placings at Newcastle and Hawkesbury last prep.

He broke his maiden over 2070m at this venue in October when powering through Heavy 9 conditions to score by more than eight lengths.

He then rebounded from a below-par Eagle Farm run to win again at this track when taking out a 2030m Benchmark 65 on Good 4 ground.

He continues to improve with racing, and barrier ten should not pose any concerns over this trip given his pattern.

Ben Thompson remains aboard for the fourth straight run, and the gelding looks capable of progressing further with another victory.
