Cranbourne Favourite - Race 1 No. 2 Faraway Dream

She couldn't have been any more impressive on debut, with Faraway Dream making light work of a wide draw to cross and lead over 1000m at Ballarat, and she opened up a winning margin of more than five lengths on her November 20 rivals.

The Busuttin & Young-trained filly had plenty in hand on the line, and her maiden event went a shade quicker overall than the BM62 on that same program.

There was good money for the daughter of Farnan ahead of that first race day appearance, which was justified by the authority of the win.

Punters have latched on early again ahead of Friday's opener at Cranbourne, mirroring that confident first-up profile.

Faraway Dream is now an odds-on favourite and again appears well placed.

Awm Pakenham Class 1 Handicap Tips (Race 6)

Cranbourne Value Bet - Race 6 No. 6 Electric Star

This mare has been short odds in all three attempts, including a $2 starting price on debut in May where Electric Star just held off the late surge from National Code, who has impressed with two strong victories via his next few tilts.

She was spelled after that breakthrough, and while she hasn’t justified the market respect in two spring runs, she was still competitive when resuming on a Heavy 9 surface.

The winner of her second-up Mornington event, Bedtime Stories, franked the form with a metro triumph at Sandown on Wednesday, adding weight to the race she comes through.

Blinkers go on Electric Star here, which may help her control the race given she looks the leader.

Each-way is now available and is a more attractive option than her previous short quotes.

Cranbourne Best Bet - Race 7 No. 8 Mometz

There was merit to the Pakenham return from Mometz, who was eased back from a wide draw when resuming over 1200m on November 28 and still managed a third.

He was spotting them a start and worked home on the inferior going, which reinforced that he has come back well.

Getting to 1400m is a big tick, with his sole win coming second-up over this track-and-trip in May when he sustained a wide run while still green.

He followed that with three respectable efforts in Saturday metro company before failing on a Heavy 10 in Adelaide.

Mometz draws kinder on Friday and with any improvement, he is well placed to record win two.

Cranbourne Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 4 Cash Converter

The winning strike-rate isn't flash, however Cash Converter has never run a bad race and has been in the money via three of four spring outings, with the only miss a fourth at Kyneton in October.

There was depth to the Class 1 field he finished third in at Caulfield Heath last time out, beating home Island Boy, who was a metro winner at his next start.

Blue Cowboy, Miss Castelvecchio and Aitu were also among the beaten brigade of that November 19 affair, with all of those gallopers showing potential.

He is hard-fit and honest, which is valuable in a race where several rivals come with queries.

In a field of questionable depth, Cash Converter makes each-way appeal.
