The 2022 VRC Oaks is a Group One 2500m set weights event held at Flemington for the three-year-old fillies.

Spring Champion and Flight Stakes place getter She's Extreme (barrier one) was a Group One winning two-year-old, now looking to claim her first at three. She brings down the strong Sydney form lines which do look incredibly strong, but does she stay the journey?

Foxy Cleopatra (barrier nine) was placed second in the Ethereal Stakes behind Renaissance Woman (barrier eight) who subsequently ran sixth, beaten three lengths in the Spring Champion Stakes.

The Wakeful Stakes is always a key lead up event to this race, with winner Zennzella (barrier six) the leading chance from the event ahead of Queen Air (barrier seven) who caught the eye late while Pavitra (barrier 10) ran super.

VRC Oaks Winners

The VRC Oaks was first run in 1861 when Palestine was victorious. It has since been won by many of Australia’s most promising fillies including Jameka, Mosheen, Miss Finland and Samantha Miss – all of which have gone on to claim G1 features form then on.

Worth $1 million, the VRC Oaks headlines the Ladies Day, the third day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

It was given Group 1 status in 1979 and the current sponsorship is provided by Kennedy, so the race is currently called the Kennedy Oaks, but the fans know this race as ‘The Oaks’.
