Where the Richmond Tigers finish in 2025: 18
All of Richmond’s additions in the offseason were from draft picks, making it very clear that they are starting to build from the ground up after being handed the Wooden Spoon in 2024.
The loss of veterans to retirement and trading class players to other clubs for first round picks it is hard to see the Tigers finish anywhere but at the bottom of the table again in 2025 after a full cleanout.
Projected Win total: 4
Projecting 4 wins for the Tigers in 2025 is being extremely kind but anything lower feels too harsh.
With a list of unknowns you just don’t know and the Tigers might pull the pants down on a few sides this season with their energy and resilience and if they can snatch one win the confidence and belief can be a dangerous weapon.
Best Contender for Brownlow Medal: Tim Taranto
After winning the Tigers Best and Fairest in his first year at the club in 2023, Taranto backed it up in 2024 with another impressive year, however, it was disrupted heavily by a broken wrist which saw him play just 15 matches.
With the mass exodus of talent from the Tigers, Taranto is now thrusted into becoming a leader that will be vital in developing the young potential at the club as they build heavily towards the future.
What’s to like
Realising that their finals window was slammed shut last season, the Tigers have their focus on the future. Agree or disagree that a full cleanout is the way to go is opinion based but the commitment of the club to do what it believes is its strength.
The Tigers will not be in the top eight this season or next but with a clear goal of development the Richmond club will rise again.
What’s NOT to like
Staying neutral there is nothing not to like about the Tigers. Their situation is clear and it is simply how they go about things in this process that will be to like or not like. Patience will be key but the process can be disturbed if the right methodical calls are made because of the need of short-lived instant success.
