Flemington Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 8 Rockin' At Midnite

This Chris Waller-trained filly was spelled after bolting in at Moonee Valley on December 13 and her maiden went around four lengths faster than the BM70 won by Apache Song.

Apache Song was airborne at the time, with a hat-trick completed before placing in a Group 2, while Rockin' At Midnite arrives here off a third-place finish at Caulfield in a race won by a smart Soft Love.

That last start form through Soft Love, Thames and Mckeylas reads very well for a three-year-old BM70 and her work past the line in that return suggests that 1400m will suit second-up.

Flemington Best Bet - Race 3 No. 1 No Fuss

The McEvoy have a promising horse on their hands here, with No Fuss unbeaten from three Australian starts and he was sold after catching the eye for third on debut in New Zealand.

Despite missing the start, he reeled in a useful pair via his 2025 return and after settling closer to a strong speed second-up, the four-year-old recorded another stylish victory at Sandown.

Although he goes up in the weights third-up, No Fuss stays in a BM70 and he's following a proven path for this Flemington assignment, as he's been a month between runs all campaign.

VRC St Leger Tips (Race 6)

Flemington Feature Bet - Race 6 No. 6 Prochester

From the same family as Royal Descent (2013 Australian Oaks winner) is Prochester and the Andrew Forsman-trained galloper will make his Australian debut in the VRC St Leger.

This doesn't look any stronger than what he has been contesting across the ditch and after failing in the Avondale Guineas, his last start performance at Group 3 level was encouraging.

Prochester sustained a long run when breaking through, with that 2200m triumph coming on soft ground and New Zealand-bred horses have won three of the last four editions of this race.

William Newton VC Handicap Tips (Race 8)

Flemington Value Bet - Race 8 No. 13 Saban

King Zephryr is clearly the one to beat, with the market elect working through the grades for now and I'd be surprised if the odds-on fav wasn't measuring up in stronger company.

There is some quality to this BM78 and Saban is worth thought for the each-way/exotic players, with his April lead-up work stronger than what he produced ahead of the spring.

Saban was resuming over this track/trip last September and given he missed the start before being held-up in a slowly run race, there was a touch of arrogance to that fresh victory.
