Sunshine Coast Next Best Bet - Race 4 No. 1 Vovo
The daughter of Vancouver failed to shine at Deagon in her first barrier trial however she demonstrated marked improvement at the same venue in her second effort.
The youngster registered a one-and-a-half-length success that day with both of those outings coming on soft going.
The selection went on to jump as a $2.10 favourite when making her racecourse debut in a 1000m maiden at this venue earlier this month.
Racing on a heavy 10 track the filly lost out by a narrow margin when contesting a six-runner event with her jockey reporting that she raced greenly under pressure.
The pick is expected to have improved for that effort while the step up to 1200m is also expected to suit.
Boris Thornton’s mount boasts a good barrier three from the rail here and with the quicker going here expected to prove no issue his mount looks capable of breaking through for her first win.

Sunshine Coast Roughie - Race 5 No. 6 Domingo
The New Zealand-bred showed a liking for wet tracks in 2023 including when placing on soft going at Gosford in October of that year and on a heavy track at Hawkesbury the following month.
The pick has made just three starts since that Hawkesbury effort however having missed the whole of 2024.
The five-year-old returned to action with a down the field eleventh of twelve when contesting a Class 2 handicap over 1400m here just over a month ago.
The son of Contributer jumped at $41 that day and joined current trainer Tony Gollan ahead of a seventh in a 1666m Class 2 handicap at Ipswich earlier this month.
The selection raced on a wet track on each occasion and is expected to have improved for those efforts given he boasts a combined first/second up record of two places from nine starts.
The drop to a provincial meeting is a positive here and he may prove capable of surprising some better-fancied rivals.

Sunshine Coast Value Bet - Race 7 No. 5 Spirit Of Mac
The gelding registered a couple of good efforts on the synthetic track at Gold Coast last prep including when third in a 1200m Benchmark 68 handicap in July of last year.
A good half-length second dropped to 1050m for a Class 1 contest followed with the pick spelled following a short-priced defeat that day.
The four-year-old was gelded following that effort and he returned to the Gold Coast synthetic surface when racing first up this time around.
Ultimately the selection failed to make an impact when meeting trouble in running in finishing seventh of eight over 1050m but he is expected to have improved for that effort.
The son of Spirit Of Boom has gone well second up in the past and a wide barrier shouldn’t be an issue given he has gone well from off the pace in the past.
The wet track is more of a concern however the gelding looks value to record a victory dropping in grade on his return to turf.
