A close third on debut at this venue in March gave Tour De Moon a promising start to his career, with the gelding following that performance by breaking through at Oakbank later that month.
While unable to win in four starts this preparation, the Shayne and Chelsea Cahill-trained five-year-old has produced several solid efforts in defeat, including his latest when racing on Good ground for just the second time.
He finished fourth at Gawler last week after being beaten only one-and-a-half lengths over 1500m, while the drop back in distance holds no concerns given he has already placed over shorter trips.
That Gawler form has yet to be properly tested, although the fifth-place finisher produced a good third at Strathalbyn on Sunday to provide an early positive reference.
The son of Press Statement draws well enough to secure his chance and, representing a strong stable in Shayne and Chelsea Cahill, looks capable of doubling his career tally.

There has been enough to like about Total Love’s trial work, and although he has failed to make a major impact in two starts to date, the gelding did take a step forward at his latest appearance.
Contesting a maiden over this distance, he tracked the early speed before finishing a one-paced sixth in a 14-runner field.
While beaten more than eight-and-a-half lengths on that occasion, the winner cleared out by more than four lengths from the remainder of the field on a Good 4 surface.
Any softening of the ground should pose no concerns given the son of Pride Of Dubai has appeared comfortable in wetter conditions through his trials, while this does not shape as the strongest maiden despite the wider barrier.
Todd Pannell reunites with the Matthew Seyers-trained four-year-old after partnering him last time, and with natural improvement from that outing, the pair look capable of breaking through.
BTR Excavations Benchmark 60 Handicap NMW – LY Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Balaklava Best Bet - Race 6 No. 3 Yorokobi
Three wins already in 2026 underline the progression Yorokobi has made, with the New Zealand-bred gelding arriving here off a strong Benchmark 58 victory at Bordertown on September 11.
Racing from the front on that occasion, the Indianna Weinert-trained four-year-old controlled proceedings before holding his rivals at bay to score by just under a length, bringing up his first victory since joining the stable.
He handled the Soft 6 conditions well at Bordertown, while the expected firmer ground presents no concern given two of his four career victories have come on Good surfaces, including strong wins at Mackay earlier in the year.
Although stepping back from the 2000m of his latest success, the majority of his earlier racing came over shorter distances and he already owns solid form around this trip.
Barrier three should allow him to adopt a similar prominent position, while Harry Grace retains the ride for the fourth consecutive start and Yorokobi looks well placed to make it back-to-back victories.
Gawler South Bakery Benchmark 58 Handicap Tips (Race 7)
Balaklava Value Bet - Race 7 No. 6 Mercury Eight
A strong Balaklava record gives Mercury Eight plenty of appeal in the final event, with the six-year-old boasting three wins from six appearances at the venue.
All three victories have come over this 1050m trip on Good ground, most recently when taking out a Benchmark 56 here in November by a clear margin.
The majority of his subsequent appearances came in stronger company, including a third in a Benchmark 68 at Morphettville Parks behind Winning Revolution in December.
Forecast Good going and barrier three both work in his favour, while the son of Danerich advertised his readiness for this return with a good second in a Morphettville trial on September 15.
He also finished third when resuming at Balaklava last preparation and, returning to his preferred course and distance with apprentice Ashlee Stone aboard for Bill Bogarts, looks capable of making his presence felt fresh.
