Cranbourne Next Best Bet - Race 1 No. 3 Shezasmokey
A $60,000 purchase at the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale in 2023 the filly failed to make much impact in three barrier trials before debuting at Ararat last November.
Nevertheless the pick jumped at $4 for an eleven-runner contest coming home just under half-a-length clear of her nearest rival over 1300m.
Racing on a good 4 track the filly raced from off the pace having been slowly away on that occasion.
The selection was spelled following that debut triumph and she is expected to have improved for the experience.
The daughter of Puissance De Lune has made three appearances in barrier trials and jump outs ahead of her return to action including when sixth at Kyneton last week.
The extra 100m she tackles here is in the pick’s favour and with Billy Egan up once more she looks capable of resuming with a victory for the Patrick & Michelle Payne stable.

Cranbourne Roughie - Race 5 No. 6 I Miss Margie
The four-year-old registered the fourth win of her career when saluting by nearly one-and-a-half-lengths in a Benchmark 64 handicap here in October.
The filly raced over this distance on a good 4 track that day prior to finishing last of twelve over 955m in a metro event at Moonee Valley later that month.
The selection was stepped up to Benchmark 74 level for that effort and dropped out having raced on the pace jumping from a wide barrier that day.
The daughter of Deep Field resumed with a sixth of seven when in a Benchmark 70 handicap over this distance at Warrnambool at the end of last month.
The pick was easy to back in the market that day and she is expected to have improved markedly for that effort.
The return to a sound surface is a further positive and she may prove up to recording her third win in four starts at this track.

Cranbourne Best Bet - Race 7 No. 5 Grouse Mountain
The four-year-old has been in good form in recent months registering top three finishes in each of her last five starts.
Those efforts include two victories with the first seeing her get home by a narrow margin in a course and distance maiden early last month.
While the filly suffered a defeat next time she delivered a good effort on her first start against previous winners finishing third of five over 1200m here.
The selection contested a Benchmark 64 handicap when beaten less than a length that day and we were with the four-year-old when she saluted in impressive fashion here a week ago.
The daughter of Vancouver came home two lengths clear of her nearest rival when racing from the front in a Class 1 handicap when partnered by Logan Bates that day.
Bates is again set to ride here and with a good barrier three off the rail his mount looks capable of completing a double.

Cranbourne Value Bet - Race 8 No. 6 Platinum Destroyer
Liam Howley’s representative recorded the second win of his career when saluting over this course and distance at the start of October.
Racing on a good 4 surface that day the gelding came home one-and-three-quarter-lengths clear of his nearest rival in an eleven-runner contest.
While unable to win since the Smart Missile gelding has recorded some good efforts in defeat including when fourth over 1856m at Kyneton on his penultimate start last prep.
The four-year-old was spelled following a down the field effort in a metro Benchmark 64 handicap on the Heath course at Caulfield in early December.
The selection resumed with a solid effort dropped to 1400m for a Benchmark 64 handicap on his return to action at Bendigo last month.
The gelding was ridden from further back than had been intended following a slow start that day and he looks value to record a second up success following a good fourth in that event.
