Marcos Giron vs Cruz Hewitt ATP Washington Tips, Prediction & Live Stream - Cruz makes ATP debut
Cruz Hewitt, son of tennis great Lleyton Hewitt, makes his ATP main draw debut in Washington against Marcos Giron. Although Giron has recent qualifying wins, his overall form has dipped, losing 11 of his last 14 matches. Meanwhile, Hewitt arrives with fresh confidence after a Wimbledon junior final appearance. Despite being a strong underdog, Hewitt is tipped to cover the +5.5 games line, especially given Giron's recent struggles. The match offers Hewitt a significant opportunity to test himself against a top-100 opponent.

Marcos Giron vs Cruz Hewitt ATP Washington Tips, Prediction & Live Stream
Making his ATP main draw debut, Cruz Hewitt is tipped to cover a +5.5 games line against an out-of-form Marcos Giron in the first round of the Mubadala Open in Washington on Tuesday.
It's a massive moment for 17-year-old Cruz Hewitt, who will feature in the Washington main draw almost 30 years after his dad Lleyton played the tournament before going on to win two Grand Slam titles and hit No. 1 in the world.
Cruz received a wildcard into the qualifying draw and certainly rode some luck, with his two opponents - Dusan Lajovic and Zachary Svajda - both retiring.
Meanwhile, Giron also came through qualifying, but the American hasn't been in good form lately, dropping to No. 85 in the world and losing 11 of his last 14 matches at tour-level.
It's obviously a huge ask for Hewitt to win this match, but I do think he can be relatively competitive. The teenager is coming off a Wimbledon junior final runner-up showing and has absolutely nothing to lose here.
Hewitt - unlike his father - has a big serve and can earn cheap points, while Giron failed to cover a -5.5 line in his two qualifying wins, one of which was over the World No. 965. Hewitt was competitive in a 6-4 7-5 loss to World No. 59 Kamil Majchrzak earlier this year and I'll back the Aussie to cover on his ATP debut.

Marcos Giron Form Analysis
- 2026 ATP Record: 11-15
- ATP Washington Record: 1-4
- Current Ranking: No. 85
- Career-High Ranking: No. 37 (2024)
It's been a relatively disappointing season for Giron, who was on the cusp of the top 50 after the Australian Open, but arrives in Washington down at No. 85.
Giron made back-to-back semi-finals in Hong Kong and Auckland to start the season with a bang, but then didn't win consecutive matches at tour-level until Wimbledon earlier this month, where he enjoyed a nice run to the third round before going down to Alexander Zverev in straight sets.
Six of Giron's 11 tour-level wins this season came in his opening two tournaments and with his ranking dropping, the 33-year-old had to go through qualifying in Washington.
The American wasn't entirely convincing, beating the World No. 965 7-5 6-4 before coming through No. 248 Andre Ilagan 6-3 7-6(2). Giron will now be looking to snap a four-match losing run in the main draw of Washington.
Cruz Hewitt Form Analysis
- 2026 ATP Record: 0-0
- ATP Washington Record: 0-0
- Current Ranking: No. 612
- Career-High Ranking: No. 606
It's a landmark moment in the young career of Hewitt, who will make his ATP main draw debut in Washington.
After making the final of junior Wimbledon, Hewitt was awarded a wildcard into qualifying of the ATP 500 tournament - and he made the most of his opportunity, outlasting Dusan Lajovic and Zachary Svajda, who both retired while the Aussie was leading their matches.
The 17-year-old has been gradually gaining more experience on tour over the last 12 months, competing in Brisbane International qualifying at the start of the year, where he pushed No. 59 Kamil Majchrzak in a 6-4 7-5 defeat.
Hewitt also earned a 3-6 6-4 6-4 win over No. 229 Edas Butvilas at the Dublin Challenger just before Wimbledon, so he's had a nice last couple of months.
