Fabio Wardley Form
Fabio Wardley enters this fight with an unbeaten record of 18 wins, no losses and 1 No Contest, with 17 of his victories coming via KO.
Wardley is one of those rare boxers that entered the professional ranks without having embarked on a notable amateur career.
The former white-collar fighter made his professional debut in April 2017 and quickly rose up the ladder as he knocked out opponent after opponent.
He won his first title in August 2020 when he knocked out Simon Valllily in the third round to claim the English heavyweight title.
Wardley then recorded his first notable victory in March 2021 when he took five rounds to stop Eric Molina, who had previously shared the ring with world champions Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder.
In November 2022 he claimed the British heavyweight title with a third-round stoppage of Nathan Gorman, and then won the WBA continental title the following April as he knocked out Michael Polite Coffie in the fourth.
European and Commonwealth titles followed in October as he travelled to Saudi Arabia to stop David Adeleye in the seventh round.
The 30-year-old’s perfect run was finally ended when his first fight with Frazer Clarke went to a split decision draw, but he left now doubts in the rematch, taking out Clarke in the very first round last October.
Justis Huni Form
Justis Huni is a former amateur World Championship bronze medallist with a perfect professional record of 12-0, with seven of those wins coming via knockout.
Huni crossed over into the professional ranks in October 2020 and in his very first fight he claimed the Australian heavyweight title, knocking out Faiga Opelu in the seventh round.
He made several successful defences, including a 10th round knockout of NRL legend-turned professional boxer Paul Gallen in June 2021.
The 26-year-old Australian went on to add more regional titles over the next couple of years as he beat Joseph Goodall, Kiki Toa Leutele and Andrew Tabiti on points.
Huni then claimed the WBO global heavyweight title in March of last year as he out-pointed Kevin Lerena over 10 rounds.
He made a successful defence of that crown in July as he knocked out Troy Pilcher in the second round, before taking out Leandro Daniel Robutti in the second round of a non-title fight in December.
Huni then began this year with another successful defence of the global title, stopping Shaun Potgieter in the second round in January.
Verdict
There is no doubting that Justis Huni is the more skilled of these two fighters, but Fabio Wardley only needs one opening to end this.
We have seen Huni get buzzed before, so we are backing Wardley to delight his hometown crowd and send the Australian home empty-handed.
