Eagle Farm Tips May 30
Race 1 - 11:43AM Drinkwise BM85 Handicap Tips (1400m)
16. Bengal Diamond was narrowly defeated first-up at Eagle Farm over 1200m when well specked. The four-year-old then contested the Listed Silk Stocking on the Gold Coast, giving a decent sight on the speed after crossing from a wide draw for an eventual third-place finish.
Her previous attempt over this track-and-trip resulted in a Class 3 win in January, a summer campaign that culminated with back-to-back BM78 victories over a mile. Should get a soft run close enough to the speed, and any improvement third-up has her right in the mix.
9. Pasima made ground as runner-up to Daggers at the Gold Coast and is big odds given that winner is a clear favourite here. Was coming off a very consistent campaign, opening it with a four-peat, with the first three of those wins over this distance. He is capable of settling closer.
17. Daggers rewarded his supporters third-up at the Gold Coast via a very good Tommy Berry ride, where he crossed from a wide draw and led throughout. This isn't much harder.
8. Hidden Achievement was a touch flat second-up and drops in grade. His only previous try at Eagle Farm resulted in a second placing in last year's JJ Atkins.
Selections: 16-9-17-8.
Race 2 - 12:18PM Kilcoy Global Foods BM85 Handicap Tips (1000m)
4. Lyles was scratched from last Saturday's Randwick meeting, presumably due to the very testing conditions there, with this surface currently in the Heavy 8 range, although a few upgrades are predicted and that could see Lyles kick off his prep. He is a sprinter who saluted in all three outings last campaign.
The most dominant of those was the second-up victory over this track-and-trip and, while he's one of many early speed influences in this field, Lyles doesn't have to lead. Since a debut flop, he hasn't finished outside of the top three and there's still upside with the four-year-old.
3. Bossed Up could get a soft run just behind a hot speed and put his turn-of-foot to use late. Has trialled well following a consistent campaign where the only time out of the money was a forgivable return. Lyles did easily account for him in their last clash, though.
1. Belegato is the blowout. The last campaign dropped off, but it opened with a second to Hidden Wealth, who was a Listed winner two starts later. Can launch late off a strong tempo.
8. Silver Wedding may find 1000m too sharp, but she's got class and found her winning touch when coming to Brisbane last prep.
Selections: 4-3-1-8.
Race 3 - 12:53PM Living Turf Premier's Cup Tips (2400m)
13. Bella Montagna faces a sharp rise in grade, but also plummets in the weights to 54kg, 6kg less than what she carried second-up. That was a pass mark with 2400m in mind and it followed a good Randwick return when giving 4kg to Nobler, who also franked that form at Gosford next start.
Got a much-deserved win over this distance on heavy ground when rounding out her summer prep, while a Queensland Oaks path was aborted last year after bolting in on stable debut for the Waterhouse & Bott yard, having been Group 2 placed in New Zealand before coming to Australia.
2. Royal Supremacy covered ground fresh and improved with the rise in distance suiting in the Chairman's Handicap. Getting to 2400m brings him right into calculations. The last two tries at this trip have produced a Group 1 win in The Metropolitan before an honest fifth in the Caulfield Cup.
1. Middle Earth bounced back to winning form in the Chairman's Handicap. Stays up in the weights for this distance rise, but has good stats at 2400m+.
8. Walsh Bay could be the value. Was luckless third-up in the Chairman's Handicap and was a Listed winner via his only try over this track-and-trip.
Selections: 13-2-1-8.
Race 4 - 1:28PM The Star Sires' Produce Stakes Tips (1400m)
1. Vantorix didn't prevail by a big margin when taking out the Group 2 Spirit Of Boom Classic, but dug deep when required and remained undefeated. This lovely, strong type from the Jenny Graham stable came through country level and off a freshen-up, with improvement still to come.
He didn't fully know how to put his rivals away in that last triumph, travelling beautifully outside the leader, but appeared to wait for some rivals before finding again late and perhaps getting to the bigger surrounds of Eagle Farm will suit the son of Capitalist in his first 1400m attempt.
2. Blind Raise heads north on a JJ Atkins campaign off two Melbourne victories, the latest a strong all-the-way success in the Listed Anzac Day Stakes at Flemington. The clockwise jump-out completed at Cranbourne since was also sound and Nash Rawiller takes the reins for this Group 2.
4. Martist was the eye-catcher in the Spirit Of Boom Classic when making ground for second and getting to 1400m should suit off that. He also draws kinder here.
18. The Autumn Affair gets blinkers on after a plain Spirit Of Boom Classic run, but has been wanting further. Massive price.
Selections: 1-2-4-18.
Race 5 - 2:03PM Lord Mayor's Cup Tips (1800m)
4. Tavi Time was a hard-luck story coming from the Scone Cup last start when badly held up in the straight and no doubt should have won that country feature. He's following the same pattern as he did when runner-up in this race last year, arriving for the 2025 edition off a Scone Cup win.
Didn't get through a heavy track in this event 12 months ago, and was second via his only previous try at Eagle Farm. The key will be some predicted track upgrades, as Tavi Time simply doesn't handle heavy ground, but he's fine on soft tracks, while 1800m now fourth-up is ideal.
5. Future History drops in trip, however he's versatile regarding distance and the May 16 effort was brave, covering ground throughout with 60.5kg and still hanging on for fourth. Handles all conditions, while Nash Rawiller stays aboard. He was also in the saddle for the January Cup win.
3. Depth Of Character is another arriving off a luckless Scone Cup performance, when back and never getting clear. Close to a peak, but does he run a strong 1800m?
9. Militarize brings the right form and is well placed on paper, but we are going back to the 2023 Golden Rose to find his last win.
Selections: 4-5-3-9.
Race 6 - 2:38PM Mullins Lawyers Fred Best Classic Tips (1400m)
17. Within The Law is one of many chances in a very open first quaddie leg, with big odds available for the Bjorn Baker-trained filly, who was unlucky in her Group 3 resumption in March when hitting a flat spot after spotting them a start and then didn't get galloping room when it was needed.
She's since won a trial and was very consistent as both a two and early three-year-old, which includes two Group 1 placings, and was thrown in the deep end after her Flight Stakes second when taking on classy older rivals in the King Charles III Stakes. 1400m-1600m is her range now.
15. Regal Award failed in what was just about D-Day at Hawkesbury, where he was heavily backed after an eye-catching second-up effort. The son of Ole Kirk is his own worst enemy, but he has a stack of raw talent and it wouldn't shock to see him salute here fourth-up at a bolter's quote.
5. Brave Monarch is the safest selection. Won five from seven, including his last two at Eagle Farm, and coming back to 1400m is no knock, being unbeaten at this trip.
8. Navy Pilot was a second-up winner over this distance last campaign and was gelded ahead of a soft return victory at Bendigo on May 2.
Selections: 17-15-5-8.
Race 7 - 3:13PM Sky Racing Queensland Derby Tips (2400m)
13. Buthelezi showed promise in his final Perth campaign, recording back-to-back victories before a solid WA Guineas effort when making ground from the rear. There has also been merit to both Victorian runs this preparation, with the gelding looking in need of the outing fresh before again working home fairly at Flemington second-up.
The rise to 2400m looks ideal now third-up and there could be genuine upside with the Moody & Coleman-trained galloper. Peter Moody has a strong record in this race and Buthelezi profiles as a three-year-old who is capable of taking a significant step forward here.
18. Solid Gold was the best performer out of the Rough Habit Plate after recording the race's fastest closing sectionals on Australian debut. The daughter of Savabeel arrived off a Group 3 win in New Zealand and the bigger expanses of Eagle Farm should suit, although the wide draw is a slight concern.
3. Different Gravy has looked one run behind throughout this campaign, but his spring form would measure up strongly in a race like this and Mark Zahra is back aboard.
7. Monopolistic arrives off a Gosford win over older rivals and could be peaking at the right time, although it's a race of many contenders.
Selections: 13-18-3-7.
Race 8 - 3:52PM Ladbrokes Kingsford Smith Cup Tips (1300m)
8. Headley Grange enjoyed a terrific 2025, recording seven wins and proving himself at Group level late in the calendar year. His early autumn form this campaign was excellent, including strong closing efforts in the Canterbury Stakes and George Ryder Stakes before contesting the Doncaster Mile.
He doesn't quite see out a strong 1600m at this level, but still wasn't disgraced behind a dominant Sheza Alibi and was back in distance to 1400m for the All Aged Stakes, a luckless but brave Group 1 effort after covering ground. He's since been freshened up and now finally draws a barrier.
1. Jimmysstar has not won in four runs this year, but the Group 1 All Aged Stakes third was excellent when coming from back and off the speed, which was completely against the Randwick pattern that day. The bigger expanses of Eagle Farm and rise to 1300m are positives after a solid Doomben 10,000 effort.
4. Another Wil can improve off his Doomben 10,000 return, where fitness appeared to give out late on a testing track. His best weight-for-age form is good enough and he could be the forgotten horse.
9. Yellow Brick took out The Archer fresh and must be respected with four wins and three placings from seven starts at Eagle Farm.
Selections: 8-1-4-9.
Race 9 - 4:28PM Magic Millions Helen Coughlan Stakes Tips (1200m)
2. Niance appeared a Group 1 winner in waiting with a terrific early record under Grahame Begg and did salute via her first three first-up outings in Australia, with the last two at Listed level, while the Group 3 triumph in between those was outstanding when on-speed into a strong headwind.
She hasn't progressed this season, with a pair of spring misses, albeit the last of those was a third behind two Group 1 winners. The April 25 Adelaide return was fair and the May 18 jump-out win was the best she's looked in a long time. She's comfortably the best sprinter in this field if right.
9. Naifah had some decent figures from spring, but she lacked a killer punch after a maiden breakthrough last season. That was all before the second-up romp at Morphettville, where she backed up a superb parade and the penny could have dropped with the three-year-old now.
5. She's Got Pizzazz comes back in trip, which is the main query, but arrives with confidence from the Gold Coast and is well placed remaining against her own sex.
7. Cigar Flick went around at silly odds fresh and saluted comfortably. She can mix form, though, and the second-up record is poor.
Selections: 2-9-5-7.
