Scone Tips May 31
Mach Energy Country Boosted 3yo & Up Maiden Plate Tips (Race 1)
Scone Value Bet - Race 1 No. 11 Supido Star
Supido Star has placed second twice from five starts, including when last in action at Quirindi earlier this month.
Racing on a Soft 6 surface, the filly was beaten just over half a length competing in a 1000m maiden event.
She was making her second start back from a spell that day and delivered a career-best effort in finishing strongly after being ridden with restraint.
Similar tactics were employed over the same distance when encountering a Soft 5 track on her return to action at Muswellbrook last month, where she finished fifth but was beaten only just over three lengths in a highly creditable wet-track debut.
Todd Howlett’s representative has a wide barrier to overcome at the transferred Scone meeting, but with Rory Hutchings taking the ride for the first time she looks value despite being vulnerable to less-exposed rivals.

Scone Best Bet - Race 5 No. 3 Ollie’s Secret
Ollie’s Secret has been in good form in recent months, registering wins in two of his past three starts.
His first victory in that sequence came over 1450m at Muswellbrook in a Benchmark 66 handicap held on a Soft 5 track.
A three-length fifth in a 1200m Quality event at Tamworth followed before a return to winning form over 1400m at Mudgee last time.
Facing only five rivals at Mudgee, the son of Adelaide still did the job well and the form received a boost when the sixth-placed runner subsequently won at a lower level.
While yet to win on Heavy ground, he has finished in the top three in three of four starts on such surfaces and, from an inside draw, looks capable of providing Mikayla Weir with another winner.

Scone Roughie - Race 6 No. 9 To Be Frank
To Be Frank has shown a liking for wet tracks in the past, including when winning on a Heavy 8 surface at Tamworth in May last year.
That success came over 1400m and was followed by a solid sixth in a 1500m Class 3 metro event at Rosehill 11 days later.
While he has not been in that sort of form this preparation, a fourth-place finish in an Armidale Benchmark 66 at the end of March was encouraging.
Beaten just under two-and-a-half lengths on that occasion, the gelding then suffered interference at the start when finishing last of seven over 1300m at the same venue next time.
Both runs came on firm ground and a return to wet conditions is a positive, while Ashley Morgan’s booking catches the eye for the five-year-old returning from a let-up.

Scone Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 2 Pontevedra
Pontevedra has already provided two winners for the Paul Messara and Leah Gavranich stable when teamed with Aaron Bullock.
His maiden success came by just under half a length over 1280m at Muswellbrook in October.
A narrow victory in a 1450m Class 1 handicap at the same venue followed the next month to complete a winning double.
Spelled after that success, the three-year-old resumed with an eleventh-of-16 finish over 1300m at Scone just over two weeks ago.
That effort came at his first start since a gelding operation and, with the visor now removed, the return to 1450m can help him improve second-up despite a wide barrier.
