Western Bulldogs vs Collingwood Magpies AFL 2026 Round 12 FAQ’s

The Magpies have been inconsistent over the past month but they continue to compete strongly against quality opposition, while the Bulldogs have struggled to put teams away despite their midfield dominance.

The Bulldogs snapped a two-game losing streak with a narrow three-point win over Melbourne last week, but they still conceded 90 points and continue to look vulnerable defensively against teams that move the ball quickly in transition.

Collingwood, meanwhile, responded strongly after their heavy loss to Geelong by defeating West Coast in Scott Pendlebury’s record-breaking 433rd AFL game.

I’m leaning towards the under 182.5 total points with both sides ranking inconsistently in attack across recent weeks. The Bulldogs are averaging just 78.2 points across their past five games, while Collingwood has topped 100 points only once in that same stretch.

Ed Richards 25+ disposals also stands out as one of the better player props on the board. Richards was outstanding again against Melbourne with 30 disposals and three goals and has now cleared 25 disposals in three of his last 4 matches.

Collingwood have covered in 3 of their last 4 games as the underdog.
The under has hit on the game total in 6 of the last 8 games between the Bulldogs and Magpies.
7 of 11 Collingwood matches in 2026 have gone under the 182.5 game total.
Ed Richards has hit 25+ disposals in 3 of his last 4 matches.

Head to Head Stats

These sides have split the last three meetings, with Collingwood winning a tight six-point contest in Round 2 last season before the Bulldogs responded with an 18-point victory later in 2024.

Western Bulldogs Form Analysis

The Bulldogs enter Round 12 with a 6-5 record after surviving a late Melbourne comeback to secure a crucial three-point win at Marvel Stadium. Marcus Bontempelli and Ed Richards starred in the midfield, combining for 59 disposals and five goals in one of the Dogs’ best midfield performances of the season.

Luke Beveridge’s side has been inconsistent over the past month, alternating wins and losses across their last five matches, but their midfield numbers remain elite. The Bulldogs rank among the competition leaders in clearances and contested possessions, giving them a strong foundation against quality opposition.

The concern remains defensively after conceding 95.2 points per game across their last five matches. The Dogs were exposed badly by Sydney and Fremantle during that stretch, although their pressure and stoppage work improved significantly against Melbourne.

Collingwood Magpies Form Analysis

Collingwood moved back into finals contention with a 10-point win over West Coast in Scott Pendlebury’s historic record-breaking game at the MCG. Nick Daicos delivered another elite performance with 34 disposals, three goals and 14 score involvements in a best-on-ground display.

The Magpies have been difficult to trust week-to-week over the past month. They were smashed by Geelong two weeks ago but responded with a strong win over West Coast, while also drawing with Hawthorn and narrowly losing to Sydney during that stretch.

Craig McRae’s side still moves the ball well and ranks highly for disposals and uncontested possession, but injuries continue to disrupt continuity.
