West Coast Eagles vs Essendon Bombers AFL 2026 Round 12 FAQ’s

The Totals line is the standout number of the entire round. The model has an implied Game Total of 195.7 against a market line of 152.5, carrying a 93.2% Over probability and a 43.2% edge. That gap is extraordinary and it is not subtle, both teams are conceding over 109 pts per game on defence and the market line of 152.5 is almost 43 points below what the model projects. Back the Over and back it with conviction.

West Coast are conceding 109.2 pts per game and Essendon are conceding 109.6. Both attacks generate Inside 50s freely with West Coast at 49.5 and Essendon at 47.3. Add to that, both defences are porous enough that scores will flow from the opening bounce. The Essendon over 71.5 team total sits inside the broader Over case and is the cleaner targeted play on the Bombers specifically.

Brad Scott was sacked this week and Darcy Parish's 41 Disposals against Richmond was already a sign of what a motivated Bomber midfield looks like. Parish has collected 36, 33 and 36 Disposals in three of the last five head-to-head clashes with West Coast. With McGrath, Durham and Guelfi all out and Tom McCarthy stepping up in a depleted midfield, the 25+ Disposals multi on Parish and McCarthy remains a strong play.

Take the Game Total Over 152.5, Essendon over 71.5, Nate Caddy 3+ goals and Darcy Parish & Tom McCarthy to both get 25 touches in a multi.

Both teams are conceding over 109 pts per game on defence and the predictive modeling has high confidence in an overs play.
Essendon are averaging 77.7 pts per game and have played 7 games against top 10 opponents.
Nate Caddy has kicked 3+ goals in two of his last five games with scores of 2, 2, 2, 3, 3 and West Coast's leaky defence creates volume forward opportunities every week.
Darcy Parish collected 41 Disposals against Richmond and has 36, 33 and 36 in three of the last five head-to-head clashes with the Eagles, with the mid-season coaching change adding extra motivation for Essendon's midfielders to perform.

Head to Head Stats

Essendon hold a 6-4 record in the last 10 meetings. The last five clashes have produced margins of 2 pts, 30 pts, 6 pts, 1 pt and 50 pts. The most recent result was an Essendon 2 pt win in Round 6 2025.

West Coast Eagles Form Analysis

West Coast pushed Collingwood to the final few minutes in Scott Pendlebury's record-breaking 433rd game at the MCG, eventually going down by 10 pts in a performance that showed genuine fight. Bailey Williams was outstanding with 28 Hitouts, 20 Disposals and 12 Clearances and Elliot Yeo booted three goals.

The Eagles are generating 49.5 Inside 50s per game but converting at just 43.0%, the inefficiency in front of goal the defining problem alongside a defence conceding 109.2 pts per game. The model has Elliot Yeo as the standout Disposals lean with a prediction of 24.6 against a line of 18.5, making him a strong Over candidate if you are looking for individual player props on the day.

Essendon Bombers Form Analysis

Essendon's season hit rock bottom against Richmond last week with an 18 pt loss to an injury-riddled Tigers side that cost Brad Scott his job. The Bombers went into the game with 13 unavailable and came out with potentially 18, losing McGrath with a broken jaw, Durham with concussion, Guelfi with a hamstring and May with ribs.

Darcy Parish was the one bright spot with 41 Disposals and nine Clearances. The mid-season coaching change will reset the environment and with nothing left to lose, these players will be motivated to perform. Mason Redman is another model lean with a predicted 27.9 Disposals against a line of 21.5, worth noting for those building multis.
