The Lions have won 10 of their last 11 matches, with those victories coming by an average margin of 47.6 points. Their only defeat in that stretch came against Carlton, while they finished the home-and-away season by smashing Collingwood 159-96 at the MCG.
Sydney finished second and closed the season with five straight wins, but their finals campaign has been turned upside down by the suspensions of Isaac Heeney, Chad Warner, Nick Blakey, James Jordon and Riley Bice. They comfortably handled North Melbourne without them in Round 24, but Brisbane are a completely different proposition.
There is also recent evidence that Brisbane can take Sydney apart. The Lions won 126-83 when these sides met at the Gabba in Round 16, and their scoring numbers coming into September are enormous. Brisbane have scored at least 106 points in eight of their last 10 victories and averaged 121.7 points across those 10 wins.
Logan Morris is thriving at the head of that attack. The young forward has kicked 3+ goals in four of his last five games and enters the finals with 16 goals across his last three appearances.

Head to Head Stats
Sydney and Brisbane split their two meetings during the 2026 home-and-away season. The Swans won 104-60 at the SCG in Round 1 before Brisbane turned the tables with a 126-83 victory at the Gabba in Round 16.
Sydney also won their previous meeting by two points in 2025, but Brisbane have won seven of the last 10 clashes overall.
Sydney Swans Form Analysis
Sydney finished the home-and-away season with five consecutive wins and an 18-5 record, locking up second place and a home qualifying final. They finished with a 123-70 win over North Melbourne in Round 24 despite already being without their five suspended players.
The concern is how that significantly altered side holds up against premiership-level opposition. Heeney, Warner and Blakey are among Sydney's biggest playmakers, while Jordon is another important part of their midfield structure. Charlie Curnow and Errol Gulden remain major threats, but the Swans will need to find another level against the reigning premiers.
Brisbane Lions Form Analysis
Brisbane finished third at 16-7 after winning 10 of their final 11 matches, with their Round 24 demolition of Collingwood perhaps the most ominous result of the lot. The Lions piled on 25.9 (159) in the 63-point victory and enter September with one of the competition's most dangerous attacks.
The Lions also regain Hugh McCluggage for the qualifying final, strengthening a midfield already containing Lachie Neale, Will Ashcroft and Josh Dunkley. With Morris in outstanding form and Charlie Cameron, Oscar Allen, Eric Hipwood, Cam Rayner and Kai Lohmann providing further scoring options, Brisbane have enough weapons to stretch Sydney's depleted side over four quarters.
