United Cup Preview

The 2026 United Cup gets the tennis season underway in style, running from January 2–11 across Perth and Sydney, with 18 countries competing in a mixed-team format that blends ATP and WTA results into one competition. Teams are split into six round-robin groups, with winners and the best runner-ups advancing to the quarter-finals before semifinals and the final in Sydney. Each tie features one men’s singles match, one women’s singles match and a mixed doubles contest, all played on hard courts - perfect preparation for the Australian Open.

Defending champions United States headline the event, led by world No. 3 Coco Gauff and No. 6 Taylor Fritz, as they look to retain the title they won in 2025. Heavy hitters from around the world are also set to compete, with players such as Iga Świątek and Hubert Hurkacz for Poland, Alex de Minaur and Maya Joint for Australia, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Victoria Mboko for Canada and Naomi Osaka for Japan all confirmed for the event. Other notable teams feature experienced stars including Belinda Bencic, Stan Wawrinka, Jasmine Paolini and Stefanos Tsitsipas, ensuring top-level singles and mixed doubles battles throughout the week.
